Re: Email Scam

I got something similar to that but it was through text message! Since I've never had anyone text me to get a quote I figured something was up. I sent over my rates and this person picked a...

Re: Biggest Challenge with DSLRs

We use Canon C100's with Dual Pixel AF and the push autofocus is extremely fast and accurate with EF lenses. Right now you can get one for $3500 which is a very good deal considering it's excellent...

Mic the bride?

I've never given much thought to putting a mic on the bride simply because it seems like it would be very intrusive to wire them up. However, I just saw this new device which got me thinking more...

Re: Offsite Backups

Peter, I found a company called CrashPlan which will let you upload your data to their cloud and then they will mail you a 3.5TB drive in the case that you have an accident. Here's their website:

Re: My Venue Speeches Recorder Solution - Non Wireless

This year I've been providing a mic stand for all of the speeches which has worked really well. It allows me to ensure that the speaker stays in one spot, it ensures that they won't bring the mic...

Re: High End Wedding Websites

Ian, it has been disappointing that both The Knot and WeddingWire aren't great options at this point. I'm also locked in for another six months or so with both of them. I've noticed that a lot of...

Re: High End Wedding Websites

These are all really helpful responses. I'm not certain what my plan is for the next 6-12 months, but I'm pretty sure I will limit the amount that I spend on sites like WeddingWire and The Knot. ...

High End Wedding Websites

I've been using WeddingWire and The Knot as my main sources of obtaining clients for the past year and it's worked quite well. However, I increased my rates a couple months ago and I've found that...

Re: G3 for weddings?

The G3 system is great but I don't think it would be wise to use it 50-70 feet from the groom. I think some of the lectrosonics systems have longer range but they also cost a lot more. The new...

Re: now that NAB is done. (new camara)

If you're looking to replace the 5D2 with a 7D2 I don't think you'll really gain much except the autofocus and 1080p60. You will lose full frame and I don't think you will gain much (if any) low...

Re: What's the max ISO on the 6D you will go to for event video?

Denoiser II and Neat Video can be VERY helpful when shooting at high ISOs. They slow down export time by quite a bit but they can make noisy footage look so much better.

Re: Audio Drifting Out Of Sync

I think it would be a little tricky to see exactly how many frames each recorder has drifted unless you use an audio slate like clapping before and after each ceremony. I'm certain I would forget to...

Re: Audio Drifting Out Of Sync

This is really helpful information and also makes me wish that Premiere Pro had the same drift correction feature that Vegas has. I think Dave is probably right in that Tascam and Zoom may tolerate...

Re: Audio Drifting Out Of Sync

It is set to 48k and actually didn't notice it being much of a problem until this recent wedding. I've heard that higher end devices like the ones by Sound Devices tend to stay in sync better than...

Audio Drifting Out Of Sync

This past year I relied heavily on portable recorders such as the Tascam DR-40 and DR-05 during the ceremony and reception. I found that for the most part they made my job a lot easier, but I just...

Re: Price drop on C300

I agree with Nigel that the C100 is an amazing camera for weddings. It's a beast in low light, has built in NDs and XLR inputs, 12 stops of dynamic range, very user friendly, and the image is...

Re: Anyone using 2.5GHz wireless for Weddings

I can't really tell from the photo how big the Rode is - I definitely don't want something huge to put on the groom or the officiant though

Re: Groom: Wireless MIC or Wireless RECORDER?

Many people will use both a wireless lav system and then put a tiny recorder in the groom's pocket. Another option is the juicedLink Little Darling that is supposed to come out this year. It can be...

Re: Good starter Cam for Video

I agree with Steve that adjusting audio on cameras with no XLRs is often much more difficult. I have a Canon G20 and I only use it for reference audio because there are no dials to adjust volume. ...
