According to this guy the 5n should be able to handle at least 20 minutes straight. More than enough time for most interview scenarios. Sony NEX-5n Overheating Issue is Not Really an Issue...

When cropping 2x it's going to become critical that the lens be rather flawless. I guess we'll see how useful this feature is once the camera comes out or more footage is available.

The canon xf100 is great for doing a lot of handheld work. Image stabilization is killer, it's pretty decent in low light, shoots 4:2:2, and it's super lightweight.

It gets pretty difficult to make something like a 14X zoom for a camera with a large sensor such as the FS100. You would likely have to deal with using more than one lens.

That creaking noise is monstrous. I don't really know what to do about that. The rattling noise may go away when you turn on image stabilization.

You've likely already got this, but DEFINITELY have something to protect the cameras in case it rains while your away from a vehicle. I think the Congo is still in it's rainy season through Mayish.
