Re: Slider for weddings

I disagree on the Konova. It will do the job but with the weight of your camera I don't know. It's way too stiff for me and my start and stops were never as good as on a DP slider or Cinevate. I...

Re: Closing credits on a wedding video

First off, I don't put the couples name or date at the beginning of the video. It's cheesy and my opinion it's already outdated, even on a highlight film. I also think that script text is a huge no...

Re: Hand signals for Videographers

Tight fist = close up
hand in the shape of the letter "o" = medium shot
hand in the shape of the letter "c" = wide shot
point at videographer, make a talking puppet with your hand = film the...

Re: How you maintain a relationship with a former client?

One thing you can do is to take 15 or so stills from the video. On their one year anniversary you can send them a calendar with a photo of them for each month. Put your logo at the bottom with each...

Re: Random questions in the form of a questionnaire

1) How often do you film with a 2nd shooter? Always have two plus an assistant. An assistant is a huge plus. They hall all gear, setup audio lights, tear down audio/lights while I can focus just on...

Re: Is your all day package include the whole photo session?

The photo session is thee most important part of my day. This is where I can have the couple do easy but creative stuff that makes my product stand out from the rest. I don't shadow the photographer,...

Re: Do you use a steady cam for weddings?

I use my Glidecam HD 2000 at every wedding. I can't live without it. If done correctly AND NOT OVER USED I feel it takes your product to a whole new level.

I only use my vest if I have the time...

Re: Capturing Brides Vows without using wired mic?

Thanks for your comment guys. Of course I'm not considering mic'ing the bride, no way!

I'm wondering if more people find the wireless system to be better by putting it on the groom then being...

Capturing Brides Vows without using wired mic?

I have been needing to ask this question for awhile. Right now we are using Zoom H1's with Countryman mics. One on the groom and one on the officiant and a back up from the DJ, but all too often the...

Re: Let there be light?

Bro that sucks. I was listening to a talk from Ray Roman who said that he lays out everything in front of the couple before they sign. If they don't want prep covered than they are not the right...

Re: to intimidate with pricing or not?

I put up what my Editing Packages start at for months March-Nov. $2900. I don't put everything up online because what if it's a wedding on a day you know you probably won't book, a destination...

Re: Shutter speed for slowmo

My shutter is around 1600 / 60p. Works great for me. I then conform with Apple Cinema Tools to 30p and then bring it into Apple's Motion then back into FCP to slow it down. No special plugin needed...

Re: Tall Tripods to Get Over Ppl Standing For Bride?

If you can't bring in a crane or don't want a 7' tripod, I've know other wedding cinematographers that request that nobody stand during the precession. But we just put a videographer at the alter and...

Re: Do NOT repeat this mistake!:)

My brother dropped my 7D twice and the first time was with the 24-105 and only the lens filter broke, but now the ring part of the filter is on for good.

The second time my brother thought the 7D...

Re: Zoom H4N is HUGE!

I put my G2 (transmitted to my H4N) on the groom so that I can monitor his vows and boost it if I need to when the bride speaks. I have a H1 on the officiant which I can't monitor but I set the audio...

Re: Shooting Only - Clients Edit

Does the client know how to edit in the codec you are shooting? If I was getting married and was on a budget it would be nice to have a pro shoot and then I edit. Who is the client? Do they have...
