Re: C300 Mark II CFast compatible card list?

Right now we're sticking with the 128gb Sandisk Cards...just two of them. The offloads are so fast that we can easily back-up on location, but we don't do a lot of run and gun where we can't get to a...

Re: C300 Mk 2 Dual Pixel Autofocus system in new 4k EOS-1DX MK 2

Not that it's the same...but you can, with the addition of the wifi transmitter, get similar control of the C300 Mark II with a tablet or smart phone. (actually. I'd prefer it that way, so I don't...

4k 60p on the C300 Mk II?

No...not really. But I tossed some 2k 60p into a 4k timeline today, and it didn't look too shabby. Not sure how it would compare with the Fs7's 4k60p...What do you think?

Re: Interesting, my cine zoom started talking to the camera today

Is is supposed to talk to the camera? Canon was pretty clear that the cinema lenses wouldn't work with the focus assist features (although I'm not sure about that zoom)...and I've never seen the...

Re: C100 Mark II Grain?

Frank, You've definitely hit on one of the primary features of the C series cameras. Canon's special sauce essentially replaced the typical macroblocking other cameras exhibit with a fine "filmic"...

Re: C300 Mark II Custom Picture

I found some notes in the new c300 manual that say that the "original Cinema eos" matrix is designed to match the C500 in a specific mode. I think though, that using it in combination with the rec...

Re: C300 vs C300 Mk2 vs ?

My guess, Mark, is that whatever form the C100 takes in it's next iteration, it will be with a 4k codec like you describe. The C300 is the top beast now, but that shouldn't suggest that canon doesn't...

Re: C300 vs C300 Mk2 vs ?

Hi Mark,

I really haven't had time to do A/B testing with the C300 and the Mark II, but I'll give you this. Having come from the land of the XL1/XL2/XLH1 followed by the 5d mark II, the C300...

Re: C300 Mark II Matrix Skintones

There's really a lot to like about this camera...especially coming from the C300. The 10 bit files are great to work with. There seems to be a lot more "range" and cleanness to the color, and overall...

C300 Mark II Matrix Skintones

Someone asked on another forum about the effect of the various C300 Mark II Color Matrices on skintones. I had a model in the studio last week, with some "generic" lighting for another project, and I...

Re: Video: C300 Mark II Face detection in Low light

I uploaded a new version. This time in a 30p timeline ( I wasn't digging the 24p due to my shitty handheld work). I also regraded a couple of clips to show a more typical colorful neutral grade.

Re: C300 Mark II Custom Picture

I really don't think it's going to be possible. The color on my Mark II doesn't seem to be any kind of match for the original camera (even in CLog, rec 709, Original Cinema EOS Color Matrix, which,...

Re: Video: C300 Mark II Face detection in Low light

That piece was shot about a week before the new camera arrived, on the C300. (still absolutely nothing wrong with that camera :-)

Video: C300 Mark II Face detection in Low light

I was on a stills shoot the other night and lugged the C300 II along. Spent about 5 minutes shooting the model in a couple of low light situations, using DPAF Face detection. Shots are 60p played...

Canon Responds on DR

Interesting new article over at Cinema5d this morning. Canon sent Larry Thorpe to explain their method of evaluating DR (although C5D still manages to conclude that their method -- choosing a low...

Re: c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

No. Canon rewired the connections so that one carries audio and the other video... So if a cable goes down, you can still get video over a single cable. The older LCD requires both cables to work. I...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

No. I set up a neutral scene "torture test" in the studio with 15-16 stops of range, (12 of those stops were along a sheet of background paper) specifically to see if there were any breaks or weak...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Hi Mark,

I've heard this reported on other sites, but the answer is no. The way you turn off autofucus as far as I can tell is at the lens (just like canon still cameras) the only features you...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Gary, don't ever change :-). Lets just consider my comments as being for the rest of the people who might be listening in.

For the record, there are many times that CLog would be a better option...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Clog on the C300 mark ii is 10 bit or 12 bit. Not 8 bit. It's actually quite lovely. In fact...if you don't have a 15 stop scene to worry about, CLog probably has more "resiliency" than Clog 2, as...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Ah, Gary. I love you man. Don't go reading rudeness into any thing I say. It's not intended. (and sorry it was taken that way). There was even a smiley face. And I certainly didn't dismiss your...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Yeah Gary. I think you've made your point that you'd prefer magnified peaking during recording. I get it. Not suggesting that DPAF is a substitute for that, for you.

I've never met a perfect...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

I have to say, after reading other folks comments re the DPAF and face recognition, I was quite dumbfounded as to how well it worked for me. I brought the camera along to a concert the other night,...

Re: c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

No...she uses a real camera, like me..:-)

From what I could tell, and I don't have an A7sII, but looking at the 120fps cropped low light footage Dan Chung posted awhile back, the C300 looks better...
