Re: Camera Choices for Weddings

The C100 is much better to shoot with than Canon DSLRs (I can't comment on the GH4 and A7S). The ergonomics, ND filters, dual slot recording, image and low light make it a much more pleasing...

Re: What are you using for a safety camera?

Hi Noa,
the plan is to use it as a locked off camera getting a general wide shot that stays in focus and changes iris etc according to the light. I am currently using a Canon DSLR as a safety cam...

Re: What are you using for a safety camera?

Michael Silverman,
it certainly looks very interesting but probably too expensive for me for next season (unless I get a lot of new bookings before May)

Re: What are you using for a safety camera?

I'm interested in a safety cam that can be left alone and can get on with the job unlike my Canon 700D DSLR which looks great when everything is ok but can't handle changes in auto very well. I have...

Re: Wedding on Guernsey

Thanks Luke. I use WDR as well. I might try Film Convert next season.

Re: Wedding on Guernsey

I liked the ghost effect when the couple were dancing, it worked well. The colours were great as well. What settings do you use on the C100 and FCPX? I have a C100 and I think my images look more...

Re: ?Ways to Use a GoPro - And which one?

I think the next stage is that we ask the bride and groom to wear head cams the whole day so that they can relive their wedding exactly as it was for them. We could also have a new chapter in the...

Re: upselling vs downgrading

6 hours!
Here it's like in Belgium, at least 12 hours work on the wedding day.
I think upgrading or downgrading would depend on your type of clients and the culture in general. Last year I offered...

Re: How important is the FS700, and slow motion in general, for weddings?

I use the C100 and sometimes use the 50i slomo for dancing ( not the main dance) or moments like when the couple are having a 20 min private photo shoot.
I sometimes use the 25p clips at 70% speed...

Re: Any one only offering highlights?

The point about the speeches is a good one. I leave personal speeches in the edit or at least as extras on the dvd. Here many weddings are still in catholic churches and the majority of the speeches...

Re: Any one only offering highlights?

It all depends on the wedding itself. Some speeches are genuinely uninteresting and go down like a damp squib, most of the stuff people say when a camera is about is nonsense and occasionally...

re: C100 Mark II -- Mostly About Waveform

Thanks Christopher Young,
that was a very useful and interesting post.
Other than that, 1080 50p and a LCD that you can actually use sound great. As much as I love the C100, focusing is not easy...

Re: Irish wedding

I thought it was great and the music worked very well. Your question was a good one though as different cultures place different values on these kind of things and there can be big differences...

Re: GoPro Hero 4 Black 4K Videos

How does the new Gopro 4 black handle interiors? What about lowish light? Compared to the previous black versions?

Re: gopro 4 with 3 axis stabilisers

Do those cameras stop shooting after a while due to heating up? Or are they reliable?

Re: Need your critiques again

I didn't see any excess shaking either! I go all black to film my weddings so I would have stood out a mile!

Re: Suggestions, especially for color grading?

I'm no expert but if I bring the blacks down to near zero I often push up the mid-tones a touch whilst making sure I don't blow any highlights by pulling the whites down so they reveal detail and are...

Re: Need your critiques again

Looked quite a difficult wedding to shoot. Not a lot of space on the roof terrace and a lot of contrasting light. The dance was pitch black so I see you had to use a light which never looks the best...

Re: CF card failure?

I have a C100 and always use dual slot recording.
I once had a CF card play up when using my old 7D (not sure if it was the card or the camera's fault). Several shots appeared as if there was no...

Re: Anyone doing a "no disks" delivery yet?

At a recent wedding fair I started asking clients. A lot said they would like a USB for themselves as they understood the loss in quality when using a DVD. Granny and her DVD player was the main...

Re: What stabilizer do you use, or would like to be using.

Adrian, thanks for letting know that Steddiepod's fate!
I think it could be an interesting tool for someone like me. I have a Glidecam HD2000 and whilst I agree that it's a great piece of kit,...
