Re: Got My Three EA50's!

Hi Noa,

Yes I use a meter a lot, but not to set exposure. I use it to judge contrast range when we are setting the lights. This is more for corporate productions than theater and I often have...

Re: Got My Three EA50's!

Almost....

Wider as in smaller MM# = more DOF

Opening up as in smaller F-Stop # (larger aperture) = less DOF

Your digital zoom idea is clever and might work if you do not "open up...

Re: Got My Three EA50's!

Joel,

My standard method of focus with servo lenses and stage work (I have done a lot of it) is to use manual focus along with the button that temporarily puts it into auto until you let go. I...

Re: Got My Three EA50's!

Brea.....I had already guessed televangelist......not sure why Brea helped tip me? Having a switcher in line going out to hard drives might cut your editing time dramatically. I record a switched...

Re: Got My Three EA50's!

Joel,

Are you doing a live internet broadcast? I do a lot of them so I would be interested in hearing how you do it? What switcher are you using?

Chris, Congrats on the second. Don't forget...

Re: Cameras with Wedding Pictures Stolen in Hawaii

Taky,

That sucks so bad! I think everyone on this board worries about that. And the media from the wedding too. I'm glad I read this because I did not know about that tracing site. Does anyone...

Re: Prompter -- Questions and options

This is the most important post here. No matter what you use for the prompter it is not easy to do well. If the talent has never done it they usually assume it is easy and don't put the advance time...

Re: MetaBones Adapter Report / Not Good

Mr. Bo-Ming Tong,

I tested the adapter with the camera hooked up to AC power and have exactly the same problems.

I never received a reply from MetaBones on my original e-mail so I e-mailed them...

Re: Wireless mics or digital recorders?

Thank you Chris,

If you believe every thing people are posting here about radio interference it would scare off the uninitiated to wireless mics. Good wireless mics are a professional standard, I...

Re: First minor problem

Come on Guys,

Your letting me down here. A logical explanation like smoke from a distant wild land fire. That works but it is no fun. I was betting on the mother ship testing landing sites and...

Re: Wireless mics or digital recorders?

Dave,

You are not disrespectful and there is nothing for me to “give away”. Over the course of twenty something years in the industry I have filled just about every role imaginable in video...

Re: Video of VL312 on camera light

The two "old" cameras I have hung onto for SD are my XL2s. Paid for themselves so many times I can't count it. Their do for one more trip back to Canon for minor repair and service. Then....who...

Re: Wireless mics or digital recorders?

Here comes an old school rant. No offence is intended and I hope I don't sound arrogant. As always I am blunt.

Audio for event video is something I have years of experience with and that means I...

Re: Video of VL312 on camera light

Jase,

Don is one of the most helpful and informative guys on this board. His info is always spot on.

The power options for this light are pretty impressive. It will run on one or two...

Re: Some reasons I like zooms

Adrian,
I wholeheartedly agree with your list of reasons that support zooms. It is video, every shot is not cropped or recomposed in post, mine never are. Composition is far more important than...

Re: Wireless mics or digital recorders?

Recording audio in a professional situation without monitoring it makes absolutely no sense to me. I would only consider it for backup systems. I run all main audio feeds in manual and adjust them...

Re: Still pictures with the EA50

It is all about the shutter. When in still mode the EA50 is using a true shutter.

Re: MetaBones Adapter Report / Not Good

Mr. Bo-Ming Tong,

Thank you for your response. I have not tried the adapter when running on the AC power yet. I can try that Sunday. This has been a very busy two weeks past.

I have tried...

Hey guys, I posted a video in photon management shot with the EA50. It is not a good example of my work and a far cry from the art Noa is posting. But as he said, just do it. Also, you can not...

Video of VL312 on camera light

OK guys. I recently purchased a new Sony EA50 camera and wanted some hands on time with it. I never take new gear on gigs until I know the new piece well. I have never done a web review of...

Re: Time for my Second has arrived

Right on to both of you. I could not agree more. I had to dump my Canon loyalty to buy the EA50. That was not brand loyalty as much as it was compatibility loyalty. Mmmm does the word...

Re: Canon XL2 LCD Monitor

Casey,

There is a tiny black switch that is easy to miss between the video outputs. It selects between RCA and BNC. You have it on the wrong one.

There is a section of this forum dedicated to...
