Yes, it really needs a flat surface to achieve the effect. But I was surprised that It just really needed an area 1.5x as wide as it was in order to be useable.

Check out the eventdv.net article where he shoots with five cams ALONE! (and still managing to do an SDE in the process)

Doesn't the sde render the highlights obsolete?

With this level or quality and done with such a crew, it almost seems like it steps out of the realm of an SDE and just becomes a highlights clip similar to what you might deliver after the wedding....
