Hi Annie, yes Ive got one of the phillips 11 inch DVD players and I use it on my camera crane, its okay especially with my home made sun hood around the screen.
Its not HD but focusing is possible...

Are you zoomed in or wide, because on full zoom even the slightest movement will be magnified. ( even just toching the pan handle lightly !)
try image stabilizer on as that may help remove small...

Why not capture to a laptop Pc if you are going to be static, I often capture to a pc for over 10 hrs continuous ( well nearly continuous )
My cheap tower unit is great for this.
