Yep, need to step up to a 2/3" CCD cam to avoid that smear. It gets REALLY nasty with high shutters which I avoided.

Actually, most the USB battery powered enclosures support "on the go" functionality. Press the button, back-up the card. It does seem a little slower than firewire but it works and I have done it...
