Re: c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

A couple of updates. Used the new camera on it's first proper shoot a couple of days ago. Kind-of a crazy one man shoot involving two cameras, substantial lighting, an ad-hoc choir of 7-11 year olds...

Re: c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

This was a quick side by side I did the first night I had the camera. Halogen tungsten lighting. ISO 20,000 at 200%. Mark II on the left. C300 on the right. Canon Log. (I'm not sure the detail...

Re: c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

Hi Sabyasachi,

I shot the 51,200 sample in CLog2. I think in CLog, 20000 is still usable without denoising as long as you can keep most of the tones somewhat to the right. If you're fighting for...

c300 Mark II CLog2 Nitty Gritty

Spent a good chunk of yesterday in my studio with a 15-16 stop test scene cycling though the myriad of gamma and color space options available on the new camera. I had two goals. One was to compare...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

Sorry... I guess my bad. From the manual I read that the punch-in was a doubling of the LCD resolution (not 1:1 even in HD). But if it's a true 1:1, that's certainly a good focus tool for some. I...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

:-)

Focusing a 4k image, relying on punch-in with peaking on a 4" .6k LCD screen is "using just the camera" as well. I don't have my camera yet...any day now...so I cannot speak to...

Re: C300 Mark II No Magnified Focus Assist During Recording

As far as I can tell it's not mentioned in the manual (in which Canon is usually pretty good about mentioning what doesn't work in specific modes), And it's a shame because when shooting interviews...

Re: Canon C300 Green Cast / Green Footage

To me this looks like a Wide DR thing...I mean...it looks really natural with the Eos standard...and "dialed out' with the Eos Match (is that a custom look?) My experience with Wide DR was that the...

Re: 4K test shoot with the new C300 Mark II

You'll have to read through the comments section at Cinema5d to hear how I really feel about Sebastien's test . :-) In his bubble over there, 12.3 stops is perfectly fine...about the same as the...

Re: 4K test shoot with the new C300 Mark II

Hey Dan...Thanks again for this!

So I think the lutted version of this looks really sweet...obviously not as exciting or graded looking as your original edit...but it shows the original clog on...

Re: 4K test shoot with the new C300 Mark II

Curious what you think about how Clog on the new cam handles Highlights (and shadows) compared with the older cameras. This has been a big question as we've really not seen much of the old log used...

Re: 4K test shoot with the new C300 Mark II

So, after a summer of watching a few englishmen take this camera out and shoot Clog2 on dreary days (I'm looking at you, Bloom), the sun finally comes out and you, Mr. Parkes decide to shoot CLog.

One-Take "Victoria" shot on C300

There's a lot of press hitting the internets today about the new film "Victoria". Shot in one "actual" take, the film which clocks in at a 2:18 running time, it's the story of a young spanish girl...

Re: C100 - No hope for fast shutter without flicker???

Yeah..the only benefit I see of shooting at ultra high shutter speeds is if you are going to slow down the footage in twixtor, or other speed ramping software that creates in-between frames, (where...

Re: Canon C300 Mark II Australian Release 4k

Danton has said that they had both, but ended up shooting a lot with the stills lenses to test and take advantage of the autofocus. There's a nice video by cloakroom media that popped up a few days...

Re: Canon C300 Mark II Australian Release 4k

Canon New Zealand just released a 4k version of Brett Danton's film on youtube (I'm not sure if the Vimeo version Canon Australia released ever played in 4k for me).

Canon EOS C300 Mark II -...

Re: Canon EOS C300 Mk. II release -an "unboxing"

Ha! Dan...didn't know you were on here (left a comment on your vimeo page earlier). Congrats on the camera, and thanks for the post. I'm intrigued by your footage...there's been a lot of grumbling on...

Re: C300 MK II in-depth seminar at EVS Sat. Sept. 26

Overall the image coming off the camera was much improved from what was shown at NAB. The new EVF is a huge improvement over the original, and the LCD has much better color as well. Seeing Trick Shot...

Re: C100 Mark I price drop ending...

Most of canon's rebates etc end at the quarter, and then are jiggered with and started up again in the next day or two. Not that this is necessarily the case here, but likely.

Re: Canon C100 none dual pixel upgrade

That camera is currently selling new for $2,999, so depending on condition and how quickly you want to sell it, somewhere around $2500. There appears to be only one for sale on ebay (surprising) and...

Re: The Great C100 Banding Mystery

Hey Christopher - That is really something. Looks like an effect. You should bottle it up and sell it!

On fixing the footage: I got a pretty natural looking result in FCP6 (don't laugh) with a 1...

Re: Canon C300 Mark II Australian Release 4k

In further conversations with Brett, I'd say he, and his colorist, really like the new camera. It appears that a new round of profiles and firmware are starting to get into the prototypes (Geoff...

Re: Canon C300 Mark II Australian Release 4k

Brett Danton contacted me via PM and expressed his enthusiasm for the new C300 and also wanted to clear up any misconception I may have created :-):

"I can guarantee 100% that not even a fill...

Re: Canon C300 Mark II Australian Release 4k

Yeah this has been out for awhile (I actually linked to it in an earlier thread on the 120fps feature of the camera), but it is largely a much better demo of what the camera does than trick shot was...
