Re: Early leak: FAA will require a pilot's license for drone flying

I was giving a workshop for drone flying over the weekend and this was one of the topics of discussion.

Everyone should read the exemptions given to the crews flying for the film industry right...

Re: What you can't do with a back injury

Know the feeling well. When I was 18 I was run over by a car. While riding my motorcycle. Shattered knee, messed up back and shoulder. Ended my military career before it started.

Every morning I...

Re: From CC to Resolve and Back Again

Theoretically the XML export with media would be the easiest. Unfortunately (unless its been recently fixed) it doesn't work.

What we had to do is render the timeline as a single file then import...

Re: Vehicle interior mount

You'll be able to get a solid mount with a 5d. Make sure you have a small rail setup on the camera with a lens support. That will be important if you are using a heavy lens. You don't need anything...

Re: Vehicle interior mount

Thats not any real issue. Do you know what kind of camera you will be using? The heavier the camera package the heavier the rigging will be.

Generally you do a hard mount so the camera moves with...

Re: Review/annotation software?

The way I handle that is to do a TC burn of my master footage to a low rez file if a client needs a copy to review and make notes on. I'll share that via file sharing site or via my own servers.

Re: Trying to find the best editing laptop.

Does your chosen editing package have any suggested models?

As and example I'm using an Avid certified Dell M4800 for Media Composer and it works great.

Re: Overcast Production Day

As already mentioned high gain bounces work well.

Probably way too late for this one but a couple 575w HMIs can work wonders if some gear rental is an option.

Re: Commercial UAS Advocacy

It happens to all of us. :)

I certainly want to see a solid advocacy group come together. I'll be a supporter.

Lord knows we need a voice in this storm.

Re: Commercial UAS Advocacy

Sorry if that seemed inflammatory.

My point is pretty simple. The sign up page is asking questions about your use of UAVs. Under administrative law if you admit to a crime you are GUILTY with no...

Re: Commercial UAS Advocacy

There is very little information there about who they are or what they will be doing. They should put a bit more effort into establishing some of that before I hand over personal information about...

Re: PMW 200 Focus

My thoughts would be the high contrast edges on the painting in the background could be the source of the hunting. It was competing with the foreground subjects.

Re: Digital Juice new lifetime sub is that a deal?

I'm not a fan of their subscription model and I've not offered them any of my money since they implemented it.

I don't want to wish failure on anyone. I would like to see them adjust their policy...

Re: F1.4 E-mount?

There is a convenient table of lenses on Wikipedia. No f/1.4 50mm listed. It looks like 1.8 is as fast as it gets in native e-mount right now.

List of Sony E-mount lenses - Wikipedia, the free...

Re: photogs kiling spontaneity, the worst kind

I went...

Re: Does anyone know if Canon is announcing a new Camcorder?

Canon isn't in the habit of pushing the market. They follow the market. They follow it from a distance.

The whole dSLR video thing was a happy accident that Canon never saw coming. A 6k video...
