Re: Hurricane Wedding?
Yeah - on the one hand I'm looking forward to shooting whatever the day may bring. On the other hand it could really be a bummer of a wedding if only a handful of guests show up. Losing power would...

Hurricane Wedding?
I'm scheduled to shoot a wedding on Sunday in NJ. The forecast is for a full force cat 1 or 2 hurricane on that day. The bride has not yet postponed. If she keeps it on, I'm wondering how to...

Re: Anyone producing same-day edits?
Nice piece Susanto - loved the open sequence!
I normally deliver both a cinematic trailer as well as an extended highlight with all of my packages (without SDE). When I sell an SDE, it replaces...

Re: Anyone producing same-day edits?
I'll add this - watching the reaction of 200 people clapping and cheering after the SDE presentation is something that satisfies your ego abit and is hard to get out of your head. After 60- 80 hours...

Re: How important is a logo/intro
I have a motion logo that I use sometimes for trailers and highlights but agree with Corey that the video should be all about them.

Re: Do you use a dolly
I built myself a DIY platform dolly a while back - the one that runs on PVC pipe. I used it for a couple of weddings during the photshoot sessions and got some good shots with it but at the end of...

Re: Anyone producing same-day edits?
Bill - I did my first SDE last month. To answer your questions
- How long, in general, are your same-day edits? Mine was 3.5 minutes
- How long does it take you to produce them? I ended up ...

Re: Pre-Ceremony Coverage
I personally like shooting the photo sessions. I get some of my best "fun" footage here. I know the couple will get lots of stills of similar shots but I think the behind the scenes angle and the...

Re: Down the Aisle with DSLR?
Michael - this has been a challenge for me too. Obviously shoot with the highest aperature possible and hope you can execute a good focus pull. The other thing I've been doing is using my steadicam...

Re: Music during bridal preprations
I generally try not to alter any of the ambience that the bride has created. If the music was exceptionally loud though, I might request to turn it down a bit when we were filming so we could pick up...

Re: Good wide angle lens for reception?
Michael - I just recently acquired a 24 1.4 L. It is now my go-to lens for receptions. Even with some lighting I find I have to stay below 2.8 to get decent exposure. So this lens coupled with my old...

Re: Same Day Edits Workflows
another time saver - if your laptop has a 3.0 USB port, get a high speed card reader ($40). I just got one and benchmarked the transfer of a 16GB card at 8 minutes vs 26 minutes with my old reader...

Re: LED Light Flickers on DSLR Cameras...

Re: Zucato EVF vs. the smallhd 6dp
Greg - I just started using the dp6 and like it a lot. For me the EVFs seemed too confining, for example if you wanted to position the cam at a low angle, your face would have to be right down there...

Re: ipad or tablet to show portfolio to brides
The screen is plenty big for use in a coffee shop setting. I let the couple hold it so they can move it around for best viewing angle. Video quality is exceptional. Either iPad 1 or 2 will work fine.
