Re: Ceiling mounted Backdrop/Seamless Holder Advice

Hi Glade,

I would have to say no, not good enough. Those Baby 5/8" Locking Receivers are in standard use for light heads and a lot of other things that are not often supported in a straight down...

What should be important is not trips down memory lane, it is what we learned on that path that still applies. Here, we talk a lot about rapidly...

Re: Improving badly recorded audio can it be done?

Now that the OP has reached a resolution I have a question for the recorder vs lav discussion. I have read a lot of views on that in the wedding section and now here. But no one ever mentions...

Re: Audio "clipping" without passing 0db

That reminds me of some old tape based pro cameras. We had to know if each model was metering at the input or after the tape heads. As though that would really help you judge a wildly bouncing VU...

Re: Balanced: 180 ͦinverse of signal. How? Or rather where?

Graham,

Yes, your XLR cable and your XLR/14" are balanced cables. Even though I cant see it the 1/4" plugs are TRS if your tester is working properly. There is no such thing as a balanced RCA...

Re: Audio "clipping" without passing 0db

Hi Pete, Let me see if I can help a little bit. I'm not quite sure what you mean here about the pad wont help? The -20db pad is Pre Fade because it is not a clip blocker like a limiter. It is...

Re: Audio "clipping" without passing 0db

In all of the past discussions on recording live events the bottom line is always the same. Always go in self prepared to record your own quality audio independently of ANY other system that may be...

Re: Balanced: 180 ͦinverse of signal. How? Or rather where?

I think the input socket is worth mentioning here. Yes, the devices send and receive the balanced signal via balanced cable, but only if proper signal flow is maintained. Good questions Graham.

Re: Right type of audio cable to use.

Once again, this forum is amazing. You asked what you may have thought was a simple question and several audio pros give spot on advice. My guess is that it has been many years, if EVER since Rick...

Re: The end of computers?

I thought your question was almost rhetorical and for fun. If you are serious then my answer is a resounding....NO.

Re: The end of computers?

Mac is the long ruling king of proprietary systems. Not only that but they change connectors and ports very often to keep their worshipers feeding on the addictive Kool-aid. The dollars roll in and...

Re: taking the xl2 on vacation

Kurt,

I am too late for your trip but here is something I learned with my two XL2s. The wide angle lens went noticeably soft at F2.8, and I mean soft. Mine was best at mid range apertures.

As...

Re: How much time to setup a simple interview?

This is spot on and being said more than once. I do a lot of executive interviews. It is not unusual to do a one or two hour set up (often with an assistant) and sometimes the subject is "on set"...
