I like the 180mm

One of the many nice things about these adapters is they don't change the aperture or minimum focus distance. I recently used my 180mm about ten feet from the subject for some garden closeups (just...

Thanks

Thats the one I was looking for, although I'm pretty impressed with the Black Magic miniature adapter for a bit more money. Need to look into SDI pass through from the box

portable HDSDI/SDI to NTSC converter

Any recommendations for a portable solution for the times it is necessary to feed NTSC downconverted video? I seem to recall seeing a recent post about a new small converter but I can't find it. ...

could an update allow double recording?

Your scary scenario started me thinking how to have belt and suspenders insurance - recording the same date to each of the slots to insure an immediate backup. Using two sxs cards, or an sxs and an...

nice work Alistair

These tripod heads are interesting, I've used the varizoom ZG, but yours are much smaller, apparently without sacrificing anything. Are these commercially available, or are you making them in your...

That looks pretty slick

I'm curious about the tripod, I haven't seen any modern side mount heads other than the Varizoom zero gravity. If you have a chance to post a few more photos I'd like to see one with it mounted on...

SDI out

If the switcher can take SDI (or HDSDI) you should be in good shape. Feeding component with the supplied wire probably would work fine but that is a lot of cable. I confused the EX1 and EX3 in my...

Feed SDI if you can

If they can take either HDSDI or downconvert SDI that is he way to go. The monitor out is just what it says- plug in a standard def monitor and see a picture - but it is not a good enough picture to...

TC sync

We've done a number of projects mixing EX1 and EX 3 cameras and found there was less drift when we set the CLOCK to the real time and used that, rather than set a timecode number and free run from...

Can the truck take SDI?

If the truck has an SDI board you can shoot HD on both cameras, dump it back to the 350 after editing (keeping it HD) then feed it as anamorphic SD or edge cropped SD.
I've fed from the EX3 this...

EX3 and 350

Look like a hero to your client - convince them to shoot HD then have the editor post in SD for the sat truck. It doesn't cost anymore, looks way better and future protects the future for a time when...

Salvage card

I had one occasion when the power went off in mid record on a 16 gig card. WHen I put it in the computer to copy it over some of the clips were missing, I don't recall if any were blacked out. In the...

downconverter is for monitoring

If you can send an SDI stream edgecropped or squeezed to the digibeta it should work fine, I've sent the SDI on satellite feeds and everyone was very happy with the picture. In a pinch and with a...

AV out problem

Hi Phil, I had a similar issue with SDI a short while ago (after a firmware update). In that case the solution was to turn off the ilink output. With Ilink disabled the SDI returned, perhaps that is...

other insurance options

Any chance the camera is covered by a credit card? Large purchases made on the Amex card are covered for a period of time, although I'm not sure how long. Any port in a storm, it may be worth...

Optima case

thanks for the suggestion on the Radio Shack Optima case, I was in there today and remembered - it seems a good choice, and at the price easy to take a chance on it.
A friend gave me one of the Case...

HDSDI out and PP

when I did a reset to the camera, then loaded the PP file I wanted, everything worked except the SDI output went away. Switcching it off, then back on, switching to SD SDI didn't make a difference....

Picture Profiles ate my SDI

Strange thing today, and a first too. I've been using a combination of EX 1 and EX 3 cameras and have had picture profiles for both cameras on my cards for months. With a rental camera today I did...

sounds like this will work

Thanks Ned, it sounds like I can run the HDSDI out of the switcher to the mxo2, then into the macbook to record dvcpro HD, and run the SD component out to a deck.
I'll have a chance to try it our...

how are you getting from camera to projection?

The pictures from these EX-1 cameras are wonderful, without a doubt, I love the look when I plug into the HD monitor, or play back from the sxs cards. Projects put up on exposure room, vimeo look...

can't beat the EX cameras

The EX makes extraordinary pictures, if it cost far more it would still be a great value. I use both the EX 1 and the EX 3, and prefer using the 3 for the viewfinder and general button placement. For...
