Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

That may be true...but we are using a Rode NTG-1 XLR shotgun mic, not a Rode Videomic which uses an unbalanced mini jack as far as I know.

What do you mean you don't get the benefit of feeding...

Re: Wedding Movie Trailer

Wow, this is amazing in terms of the way the vows were done, the content, and the creativity of some shots.

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

Sophie, why leave the Rode at home? It's a good, reliable shotgun mic. The ME64 has served me well as a solid mic as well. They are both better than the included shotgun that came with the Sony...

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

Thanks for this comparison. It really shows me that a wired lav feeding into a recorder will work fine. We will also have a shotgun mic (Rode NTG-1 or perhaps a cardioid Sennheiser ME64) feeding into...

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

You mean the Sennheiser ME series mics can get the DJ, quartets, etc. well compared to the Giant Squid wired lavs? I totally would agree, but I'm just trying to capture the dialogue, vows, etc. of...

Re: Need Help Balancing a Blackbird

Hi Chris,

Of course I've checked out that page. That site is where I bought the blackbird from. I've also watched that video and the entire DVD. It does not show what to do when the right/left...

Re: Need Help Balancing a Blackbird

I was under the impression that the gimbal extender you're talking about only affects the drop time? Our drop time right is is pretty close to 2 seconds, which is what the instructional DVD called...

Re: Need Help Balancing a Blackbird

Okay, just kidding. It's not balanced again. The blackbird seems EXTREMELY sensitive. I was able to get the drop time to 2 seconds, the front/back balanced, but the right/left trim is completely off....

Re: Need Help Balancing a Blackbird

Thanks Rich! I was able to balance it finally - the LCD really helped out too. I think the issue was really the tripod adaptor plate I have which offsets the normal weight balance of the A1. It's a...

Need Help Balancing a Blackbird

Hi guys,

Just got a new blackbird today! Pretty excited, but I'm trying to figure out how to balance a camera. Mounted is a Sony HVR-A1U with the audio pod, a short XLR cable connecting a Rode...

Re: What is Your Order of Action?

Thanks! I think we have a pretty comprehensive contract at 8 pages, but we're going to have a lawyer friend look it over too.

Some of the other documents/products there seem good too, though...

Hi all,

Thanks for everyone's great advice on my questions so far as a new wedding videographer. So here's another one for you:

What's your plan/order of action after you've booked a new...

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

We just got the Giant Squid wired lav with a right-angle connector, does that work? I didn't realize that adds 1.5 inches.

This is the thing we got: Miniature Microphones and Accessories : Stereo...

Re: New to weddings - On a Budget - Thoughts and Suggestions needed

Thanks!

So the Glidetrack SD, HD, XD lines just carry different camera payloads? But then there's the Hybrid model in the HD line, which says it uses both sliding AND roller bearings. I'm assuming...

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

Exactly, we are trying to get the mics next to the speaker, which is why we believe a camera mounted shotgun will be next to useless (serve only as last resort backup). We did think to mic into the...

So in the meantime need something cheap to hold me over.

Re: Continuous Autofocs, Push Autofocus, etc.

Thanks for your answer!

Do the Lumix lens provide continuous AF or just one-shot autofocus?

I hear that trying to touch the focus ring while on a Steadicam will throw the whole thing off...

How to deal with equipment theft?

Hi everyone,

Just a concern that I'm wondering how you all deal with. I'm sure we all own/rent a bunch of equipment for weddings that we can't keep an eye on the entire time, even with two...

Re: What's Your Audio Setup?

Thanks for your response, Ken.

Yeah, I think I got the bride, groom, officiant part covered. I didn't choose the Sennheiser G2/G3 wireless lav systems because I don't want to deal with...
