Re: 5D4 Wish List
Re-summarizing my list above, in addition to typical evolutionary improvements, the new stuff I'd most like (and expect) are:
1) Better resolution/anti-aliasing for video
2) Higher frame rates...

5D4 Wish List
The interval between the announcement of the 5D2 (17-Sep-2008) and 5D3 (2-Mar-2012) was 3 years, 6 months. As of tomorrow it will be 3 years, 11 months since the announcement of the 5D3.

Re: C300 vs C300 Mk2 vs ?
Regardless of whether 100 Mbps is consumer or not, for some projects it could be nice to have a lower data rate option in situations where the client requests 4K, but schedule pressure requires fast...

Re: UHD Alliance Sets HDR Requirements
I'm not doing HDR just yet, but I'd love to. We'll all be going that route eventually - and we'll love it. :)
The main thing holding me (and us) back is the monitor. I could shoot photos on my...

Re: Treating a room for voiceovers
I've read some analysis about the small box-type solutions and they aren't all that effective. The main issue was the uneven frequency response. As is typical, HFs are easy; LFs are hard. On the...

120 fps camera recommendations
We have a near-term project where we need to shoot 120 fps in the Portland, OR area. I'm curious about recommendations. As always, the "best" camera depends on the application, so here goes:

Re: Treating a room for voiceovers
Many pro voiceover booths are really tiny, which means that they need to be dead, dead, dead. They also need great isolation to remove outside sounds.
One approach is to use Corning 703 panels....

Re: Why do people use tripod legs with spreaders?
The instability on carpet was due to the inherent flat bottom on that particular floor spreader. With a mid-level spreader, I would have been able to use either pads or spikes as needed. I really...

Re: Why do people use tripod legs with spreaders?
At least with good sticks and a cheap head, one can lock it down and push buttons and adjust focus without the image jolting about. It's only when you pan and tilt that a head really comes into play...

Re: AT 875R vs AT 2020 - Voiceovers
With either mic, the placement and room treatment can make a big difference. If you can hang blankets, that's an easy win. It's not perfect, frequency response-wise, but removing hard, fast...

We don't really have enough context to know the best solution.
If the person wants to make a documentary, a basic, all-in-one, small sensor camcorder is the right choice. Then it comes down to...
