No Flux Capacitor Needed
A quick little fun clip I put together from footage I shot last weekend.
Shot with Canon S5 IS, edited in Vegas 8.0 Pro. http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fusea...deoid=31263018 |
A Park Party in Fayetteville, Arkansas
This is a video of me and some friends when we drove from Springfield, Missouri to Fayetteville, AR. For the most part, this project was for practice in editing. I haven't done any video projects for about 6 or 7 years, so it was nice to stretch my wings again.
Some of the verbal content may not be safe for work. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=29004290 |
nice smooth speed up and slow down. I tried to do that with a project i did a few weeks back and had to speed up and slow down in increments. Yours looked goooood and a lot smoother than mine... cheers for adding it

I appreciate the comment. Actually, I'd like to invest in a good neutral density filter so the shutter can stay open longer for each frame. That way the repeated frames will actually appear fluid rather than simply stacked. You can spot it pretty easily on the signs at the slow ends of the clip.

Fashion Show Promo shot with the A1
Hey guys,
Here is a promo I've just completed for a Fashion Show sponsored by a local newspaper (Louisville Eccentric Observer - LEO Weekly). All shots were done with an A1 and using a monopod as a stabilizer. http://www.vimeo.com/833429 http://leoweekly.com/?q=promotions (it's the video at the top, and while you're at it, check out the pics too...some very hot models were involved in this one) Enjoy and let me know what you think. Right at 16 seconds I thought you replaced the actor with a mannequin. I've never seen such dead eyes in a video before. That would be cool in a certain context.

Spot Fever
Here are some of the recent spots I've done. They aren't great, but I'm learning as I go. The first is one for the company I work for and was done entirely in Motion 3. The second is for an audio/video component store and was edited edited in FCP, chroma keyed in Color and motion mattes and motion tracking was done in Motion 3.
http://www.gonadsgo.com/video/casscomm_standalone.mov http://www.gonadsgo.com/video/sundownone.mov I have my own issues with these spots, but I would like to hear from others on ways I could improve these and future spots. |

Thanks John, I'll check it out.

The mood is good. Definitely seems like a background piece for something else (credits, compositing). The movement of the lens flare could use some work to help make it more cohesive to the moving image, but other than that it's nice.

New Music Video - Check it out!
Here's a music video...
http://www.vimeo.com/835920 ...created for my wife for an internet singing competition. If you like Rascal Flatts, you'll love this! It was a great project that really put my XH-A1 though its paces (lots of steadicams shots). Make sure the 'HD' button is active on the video at Vimeo -- looks WAY better than the standard def version. If you like her perfomance, go give her a vote as well! :-) http://www.brickfish.com/Pages/Video...&pbvi=14572862 BTW -- the compression quality is horrible on the competition site, that's why I put it up on Vimeo for others to see (who have a more critical eye :-). Check out the Vimeo link first! |
??
I'm not getting audio on the Vimeo site and it looks like you have a bad link for the other one.
|
Ken --
I just fixed the competition site link above -- should work now. You can see the video there, but the quality is VERY poor -- that's why I included the Vimeo link. Not sure what the problem is with the Vimeo link (I can't get the audio either!) -- It's been fine for the last few days. Looking into it now... I may have to reupload the Hd Vimeo version. Thanks |
Great stuff
Hi James,
Great stuff, really like the clean, simple approach - it belies your great camera work. Still no audio though! BTW - what were your encoding settings? I'm having real trouble outputting any of my work at anything like half-decent quality. Sean **UPDATE** Just watched the video on the Brickfish site - really enjoyed it... I might have been tempted to squeeze a lens flare in somewhere, but that's just me - and I might also have gone for a couple more moody close ups of her not singing...but that's a question of style and taste. Again, I really like the clean approach - nothing over-produced or complex - just shot really, really well. Well done! S |
I had no audio on your vimeo, I found the vimeo volume control, it was turned all the way down. turned it up and it sounded great :)
|
Yes -- *the audio on the video control/player (in Vimeo) was turned all the way down by default for some reason!* (bottom right of video player)
Once I turned it up -- all was well. Thanks Allen Sean -- Thanks for the constructive comments and compliments -- much appreciated. Yes, I probably could have put a few more non-singing shots in there, and perhaps another lens flare (I do have a couple in there :-) Thanks again for the great feedback! Try turning up the audio control on the Vimeo video player and see if that works... |
No Country For Bored Men
This is our latest short - a poke at modern pharmaceutical advertising.
Would appreciate any and all feedback. You can check out all of our other shorts from the site as well. http://www.thrillahill.com/ncfbm.html |
Thank you John P. This was my first attempt at something like this. Thanks for taking the time to look at it and your comments.
Oliver |
Thanks
Hi Richard
Thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated. As i'm sure you know, it's hard to be objective when you're writing, producing and acting in the same production...especially when it's our first. I think you're right about the music not helping with the trailer. It was actually a piece of music written for the intro of the film itself rather than specifically for the trailer. We'll make sure the actual release version of the trailer is much more focussed. Thanks again.. the more input the better! Sean |
First time sharing - A1 24P & Glidecam test
I've always watched only. A lot of great videos from you guys on this site.
I wanted to share a little too. My skills are getting better. In my opinion at least :) This is 24p test with A1 and glidecam. I was always scared to shoot 24p, as I thought that there will be a lot of strobing effect, if I don't know how to do it well. But now I'm in love with 24p. The other clips there are a little older (shot last year), so don't judge me on those... There are 2 test clips there: http://www.vimeo.com/843932 http://www.vimeo.com/847789 Any feedback would be appreciated. |
The Eyes of a Character - Student Short
I'm a high school student and this was made as a film lab in my Film Production class.
Assignment: No sound and the camera had to be the POV of a character. Let me know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX5fg3eaCgM |
Excellent stuff. Very smooth and well composed! Question - which vest and arm do you use?
Daniel |
Thanks Daniel.
For this one I didn't use the vest. I'm using smooth shooter arm and vest. This was actually my first time ever without arm and vest. My glidecam weighted 18 pounds before, for better stability with smooth shooter. Now I removed all the extra weights and tried it handheld for the first time. There is a lot more movement allowed, mostly with the dynamic shots. |
