The nice thing about the VX's stereo mics

I use a VX2000 for all my wedding work, and love it. What I don't love so much is having to have a Beachtek DXA-4 bolted underneath it so that I can use decent microphones - and most important, a radio mic.

But there are times when it's really useful to be able to pull out that little stereo mini jack and at a stroke revert to the VX2k's in-built stereo mics. Like for instance when the b & g enter the room to huge applause as they waft between all their guests to take their place up at the head table.

At times like these (and many others) I fit the Aspheron super-wide and glide along behind them, taking in the stereo clapping, whistles and whoops of admiration. It sounds wonderful on the audio track, and switching to mono (even using a far nicer mic) sounds decidedly flat and lifeless.
