Re: Pmw-300 v1.40

I have not but would like to know what the benefits are before doing so. Camera has been working very well so I am reluctant. Why the hell would Sony post an update without notes on changes? I have to also say I have a trust issue with them and would not want to loose any features I already have.

Re: Pmw-300 v1.40

If you download the the update and open the read me notes before installing, this what it says

Release Note
Major functions updated with V1.4
Video Formats
PMW-300K1/K2 is compatible with the format of MPEG2
recording in exFAT Mode.
• “XAVC/MPEG2” is added to the selectable items of “System” of
the OTHERS menu in exFAT/HD Mode.
• “HD422,” “HQ,” and “DVCAM” are added to the selectable items of
“Format” in “System” of the OTHERS menu in exFAT Mode.

Hope this goes some way to answering your question. As for the benefits of the these added features I am not sure. hopefully somebody on here will put me right!!

Re: Pmw-300 v1.40

Theoretically it means SDXC cards can be used with XDCAM HD422 now. Can anyone confirm this with the update?

Re: Pmw-300 v1.40

We shoot on the PMW 400. I would agree, is there more information on the benefits of this firmware upgrade for our cameras? I am not sure if we want to do the upgrade, or to buy all new XAVC cards if it's not going to give us major advantages.

We shoot 50mbps 4:2:2 on the SxS cards right now.

Does anyone have a full list, or can you suggest advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks!
