looping video ideas?
 

Hi all,

I am going to be putting together a looping video to play in a high end nightclub/lounge, that has a bunch of Plasma screens.. It will have logos, drink specials, special events, private party announcements.. etc.. And I want to make it on a DVD (I am using DVD Architect 2 of course) but I know i am limited in time on the DVD.. I do not want the employees to have to run in the back to the DVD player every hour or even 2 hours to restart the promo dvd.. Of course I have thought of using a VHS tape (6 hours) but was hoping to use the DVD to keep the video quality high..

Any ideas on how to get a long loop ??

This sounds like you're going to run a single play movie with no menu so set your "end action" to 'most recent menu' and it should loop until you stop it.

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Well guys, DTS encoding isn't that far away. Check the link down below, they offer 2 DTS software encoders. The most expensive one of the two is 499 dollar, which I consider as a prosumer price. Just render 6 WAV tracks from your 5.1 mix...

I'm not sure how to build a dvd with a DTS audiotrack, can you use DVD-A for that purpose?

The problem usually seems to be authoring (not encoding). DVDA
does not support dts tracks at this moment.

Its not too important at the moment just would be cool to have a dts soundtrack on the dvd for my next short film,
guess i'll just have to keep the dts files and wait till i get some software that will allow me to use it, or just stick it on as a dts wav as i tried and hope some dts decoders will decode it.

which is what i hoped would work cause like with some ac3 and dts wav files i downloaded once when i played on the computer they were just the noise, but when put in my dvd player they were decoded properly,

but my dts wav files i make just play the noise on both my computer and dvd player.

Quick question here , is it possible to go beyond the 300% limit for the velocity enveloppe , 300% is wayyyy too slow for what I want.

Setting the end action to itself should be all that is necessary. Note that if you already have it on DVD, most DVD players also have the ability to repeat a track as well.

To make things 100% simple on the end user (i.e. stick it in and walk away), I would do as Don suggested - Single Move project and set the end action to itself.

OK, cool.. Did not know you could set the end action to itself.. And I was not even sure you could set an end action in a non-menu based DVD..

The velocity envelope will give you 300% and a "CNTRL+Drag of the clip will give you an additional 400% for a total of 1200% (or 12x)

If you need more than 12x, you have a couple of options:

1) Render out at 12x, put the new file on the timline, and then speed that up again (up to 12x). Repeat as needed.

2) Use the velocity tool in Veggie Toolkit. (There's a link to it at the link under my name)

I have recorded my video in 30p using a DVX100a. I want to perserve 30p from recording to final production as a DVD. Are there any specific things to keep in mind in rendering or burning the DVD using Vegas 5 + DVD software or can I run defaults accross the board?

Yes, make sure that everything is set to 29.97 fps PROGRESSIVE,
that INCLUDES your project settings AND your export settings
(which default to interlaced!!). Also make sure your authoring
programs has everything set to progressive.

Printing to dv tape
 

I wanted to send my project to a dv tape so I can show it on vhs. So, I went into Tools, Print video to dv tape. All went well except, I now have 52 files that say "Vegas prerendered video file. 0001 (through 52). Question, can I delete these files without deleteing up my project? bob

Vegas 5 won't render MPEG 1's
 

hello all
I can render MPEG 2's no problem but when I try to render MPEG1's, it just freezes a little way through.

I believe this is a common problem with VEGAS 5.

Any ideas? For the meantime I might just have to render them in Vegas 4! Not ideal though is it...

AND, what's news in version 5.2 b(?!)
