Libec LS-38 Tripod System
 

I've moved on to a larger camera rig that needs a heavier duty tripod, so it's time to sell my trusty Libec LS-38 head and sticks. They show signs of normal use and wear, and they function as well as the day I bought them. Fluid pan/tilt action is flawless.

Everything shown in the pictures comes with the tripod: Libec padded carrying case, pan handle, and three removable rubber feet. Note that this has the mid-level spreader, which can be operated totally flat or at 45*.

The elastic cord that binds the collapsed legs was severed, orphaning a spring inside one of the legs that makes a sound only when moved, e.g., turned upside down or when collapsing the legs.

I don't know Steven, but I would like to put in a plug for this system -- it is fantastic! It's the smoothest mid-price-range kit I've used. Whoever gets this is getting a very, very nice tripod/head system. It's a little larger than what I prefer for my travel/outdoor work, but I like it so much that I have hauled around at times when I want to use a really good system.

If you're worried about not having the elastic that keeps the legs together when transporting (as I would have been until I thought about it), a very small bungy cord will work fine -- maybe even better. Inside the very good case, it doesn't even matter.

Thanks, Phil, for the plug. I'm a pretty fit guy and have no problems carrying this around in the field with my old cam mounted (Canon XH-A1). I've also used it extensively for stage productions. At its price point, it just couldn't be beat for portability, smooth pan/tilt with zero drift-back, and rock solid sticks.

I had to mention the missing elastic to be honest. Since the tripod never flopped open on me, I didn't see the value in the elastic anyway.

I hope everyone (in the U.S.) was celebrating Labor Day and not trolling the classifieds!

The SD card was all I could salvage. Footage was intact right up till that last clip.
Once I got back to the hotel, about 4 hours later, I dried it out and then later put a fresh battery pack in it, but no dice.

I haven't posted any bird videos. Must be thinking of somebody else...

I'm looking to get a GoPro3 this winter when I take a trip back to the U.S.
