Re: Different mixers producing different outputs?

Tis all in the mic pre! A single channel high quality pre can cost thousands of dollars. The one in our zooms just can't compete. If you want to step up to the next level without breaking the bank,...

Re: Should I get a mixer with zoom h4n?

The zoom absolutely has line inputs. They are the 1/4" jacks inside the xlr's. The advantages of having an extra mixer would be easier control of levels and some eq that can be dialed in easily. And...

Re: What lav mic for shooting interviews?

Wind will show up even on a lav mic. If you're outdoors you need the proper wind filter which is included in the Sanken and VT500 kits.

Indoors with a static interview, I try to get the shotgun...

Re: Zoom Control for XF300

I tried the Varizoom Lanc and for some reason it would drift and not put the camera in record....intermittently!

Bought the Canon one (ZR1000) and it works great though the cable is too short for...

Re: What lav mic for shooting interviews?

Second a boom approach. If I am doing static interviews or anything where the actor doesn't move the shotgun is my first choice as it sounds much better than most lavs. (and I have the Sanken COS 11...

Re: Small True Fluid Head.

701hdv is pretty nice for the size and price. Use mine primarily for slider work with my 7D.

Re: GoPro Hero and Replay 1080XD

Iso mount looks good Dean!
One question...in your footage, what's all that green stuff on the ground? I heard a rumor that other parts of the world had this thing called "grass"...is that it? Sure...

Re: How to Fix Echo on Adobe Soundbooth

The analogy I use is "try to take the eggs out of a cake that's been baked"
Can't be done with anything I've run across in my 23 years of audio work.
ADR is the easiest way. I just recently saved...

Re: Mounting camera on different heads / QuickRelease plate

Second the 577. Saved a lot of headache since I have a lot of support gear including a Sachtler tripod which the 577 receiver plate sits atop. That way my cameras all wear the Manfrotto stuff. Easy!

Re: Replay XD footage test

Very curious to see how the iso mounts work. I have mounts for my motorcycle and the trailer hitch of my car. What i found with a bit of trial and error was that the hard mount worked best. Any...

Re: Replay XD footage test

Very windy day and also first true flight out of a hover. It's faster than I thought...even with all the extra rigging for the camera. Will do more on a calmer day to show what it really can do. Plus...

Re: Best desktop audio monitoring solution?

Kirk, As much as I hate the NS10's they are far from inaccurate. There's a huge library of info out there as to why so many engineers use them and while the words "harsh" and "uncompromising" are in...

Re: Renting the XF305

Unless you need the 305 for genlock and TC, Phoenix is only a 90 min flight! Fly me out and put me up for the night and you'll have a 300 with all sorts of other goodies! (GlideCam, wireless audio,...

Re: Premiere crashes if monitor is turned off.

I learned the hard way during an After Effects render. Set it up for an overnight render. Shut the monitors off and went to bed. Next morning turned the monitors on and AE had crashed after just a...

Re: Best desktop audio monitoring solution?

The m-audios are probably the best deal out there. If you can swing a bit more, Alesis makes some decent powered monitors, Mackie or KRK next, etc. Tons to choose from, in all price ranges. Best idea...

Re: Can you record from the HMC-150's HDMI Out?

I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work. I used to have one too. I never recorded out the HDMI but I did use an external monitor all the time. I was able to toggle the screen info coming out the...
