Re: What's so great about Canon DSLRs?
Hi Terry,
Yes I was a Panasonic guy. When the AF100 came out I gave it a try, but it wasn't for me. I still have my 3 HMC150s. They are used on our Documentary wedding coverage, but the DSLRs are...

Re: What's so great about Canon DSLRs?
If you are shooting primarily wedding video and not photography you can get away with less expensive glass, especially if you are shooting 1920x1080 and not 4k. Another way you can save money is to...

Re: Use Contax lenses on 60D?
Hi Steve,
You are welcome. The adapter still fits nicely without any signs of play or looseness. However when the 60D was my primary camera I used the Zeiss 50mm quite a bit. Sometimes when I...

Re: Use Contax lenses on 60D?
Hi Steve,
It is not possible to convert the Y/C (Contax/Yashica) mount to EOS, so I'll give you $20 for that 100mm 2.8 Zeiss. ;-)
Seriously...I bought a Contax 167M as part of a kit with a...

Re: Looking for a Used Video Camera
The Canon XHA1 is a good camera and with a $1200 budget, about the only others would be the Sony Z1 or FX1. The FX1 does not have XLR inputs as well as a few other handy features, but the same chips...

Re: anything new on LED?
Hi Don,
Thanks for mentioning that you use the 312AS on your video camera. Maybe it has been posted previously about mounting the 312AS on a video camera, but I was thinking that the 312AS may be...

Re: anything new on LED?
Hi Michael,
Thanks for all of the info. The Z96 is just adequate for some fill light with DSLRs, but is usually not quite powerful enough with video cameras in a lot of scenarios so if I can get a...

Re: anything new on LED?
Hi Michael,
I have the Z96 lights. I'm not crazy about their color temp and I'm wondering if the 209AS throws as far as the Z96? Additionally, what remote system are you using with your 312AS...

Hi Simon,
I do not own a Fotodiox Nikon to EOS Pro adapter so I do not know how much better it is over the cheaper adapter. The standard Fotodiox adapters that I use are also all metal and...

Hi Victor,
While I do not have any experience with the Cinevate or Fotodiox Pro adapter, I'm sure they are quite good. Everything that I have used from Cinevate has been top notch quality and I...

Re: old manual primes recommendation and review.
I have over a dozen fotodiox adapters. They all work great except the Pentax to EOS. Fotodiox has an eBay store where they sell the Nikon to EOS adapter for $17.95.
Fotodiox Nikon F Lens to Canon...

Re: Telephoto lens for wedding?
Hi Victor,
The eBay link I posted was for the constant 3.5 version. They came in two flavors, 2.8-4 and 3.5. I randomly clicked on one of the auctions and it looks pretty good, but there may be...

Re: Telephoto lens for wedding?
Hi Bill,
I have version 1 as well. I'm using Manfrotto 503 tripod heads and get great results with version 1. The 503 isn't the cheapest head but it's far from being "high end".

Re: Telephoto lens for wedding?
The 3.5 version is a constant 3.5. They also made a 2.8-4 version which of course closes down as you zoom.
Either version of the Vivitar Series 1 at $100 or less is a bargain. If a constant 2.8...

Re: Telephoto lens for wedding?
Those lenses will work, but the problem is that they are primes. For a long ceremony lens at an affordable price I would get a vintage Vivitar Series 1 70-210 3.5. You can find them on eBay for $100...
