Re: Hot swapping lenses?

I read in one of the forums here that it can be an issue when hot-swapping non-Canon lenses?

Don't know. I guess I just avoid it just in case. (Though I hear you, Nicholas, on the lengthy...

Re: Over booked 2015

I don't mind cluster booking (more bookings in one month than in another) as long as I keep to a given number in a year and don't go over that (and as long as I tell those who are cluster-booked that...

Re: How long do you wait?

True story:

I have a wedding in my editing deck from 2009 (actually my last standard def/Canon XL2 wedding). They had made a full half payment 6 months prior and, when on the day no final payment...

Re: 6th Wedding - Critique

I actually think that, given that music and feel of the shots, and the colors, I would try it *without* the slow-mo.

Re: Delivery of finished product

75% bluray for me for weddings.
Last week, I had a bride order extra copies in addition to her own and her 2 family copies. 8 bluray, no DVD. Great by me as they'll see it in better quality.

Re: Enquiries

One close friend of mine once said:
"If you have a quality product, raise your prices".
Good advice.

Re: Enquiries

I post a single price (only interested in doing full weddings and I don't really have any add-ons/take-aways as I pretty much work alone, don't do SDEs, photobooths, etc.). If they want to add a...

Re: Not one has booked a short form for this year??

And the way I see it, too, (and I've said this in other posts), if I'm going to go through all the footage anyway to make the Highlights (which I do), then I might as well include that nicely cleaned...

Re: Not one has booked a short form for this year??

Same here. I don't even ask the brides -- they just know that they'll be getting a trailer (couple minutes), highlights montage of about 15 minutes, and then the "running footage" of the...

Re: How much time on Blu-ray 25GB

When clients have asked for all the "running footage" (full ceremony as well as highlights), I've sometimes pushed 2:45:00 and then pulled the bitrate down to 18mbps and found that it still looked...

Re: "Cinematic" Wedding Videos - Full Ceremony Sample

For me, the "cinematic" part applies only to the trailer/highlights. The full ceremony plays out in the running footage just as it played out on the day (2 camera angles, slightly...

Re: Classical Concert Audio

Yes, definitely -- and am looking forward to it! That's what prompted this thread -- and the hope to have more time to do so before the next (very last minute) job comes up!

Re: Calisse + Morgan, shot with 2x C100s

Nice!

One comment: There are so many beautiful shots throughout that I suggest starting with a shot that's more beautiful than the one there now. (the opening shot has its place somewhere in the...

Re: Classical Concert Audio

Yes, I think it's something like a $20,000 target (recording studio and such). The video is only intended to tap into the community in Boston here who know these period music performers well. ...

Re: C100 Short Film Shot With 2 Person Crew

Tears.

Came looking for a C100 video, but didn't think about the camera much :)

Re: Classical Concert Audio

Thanks so much, all, for the helpful feedback.

Just to clarify (Dave): no audio engineer for was ever going to be involved for this kickstarter. For the album, YES, most definitely!

The...

Classical Concert Audio

I was just called on to do a Kickstarter video. I told them I was not an audio *specialist* (and that typically there's a separate engineer on a shoot like this), but that I'd be willing to get them...

Re: When Vimeo is down :(

If you have PRO, you can default your videos to play in HD embedded -- and this is actually why I use vimeo over YouTube. I want to be the one deciding the quality (not having people let YouTube...

When Vimeo is down :(

I'm probably not the only one who's already noticed vimeo is down.
I often wonder if I depend too much on Vimeo (right now, for example, my website and blog are basically crippled), but it is...

Re: Another guy looking for a critique... :)

Byron -

Just take out the "s" of "https" so that it's "http" and that should make the embed work.

Re: Selling Your Service VS. Uncle Bob

I figure that if the couple chooses Uncle Bob over me, then one of the following is true:

1. Their tastes are not at all discerning (and so good for them -- they've saved thousands and will be...

Re: C300 - Intermittent Loss of Iris Control

But mine is happening on the C100 -- are you saying the same might apply? (Isn't the grip a different connection on the C300?)

At any rate, this has happened to me 3 or so times on the C100 where...
