Re: Canon XC10 - Anyone used one at a wedding?

I see the biggest problem for the XC10 is the price, then slow lens at the tele end.
The plus points for wedding filming would be being able to film without overheating and for more than 30 mins,...

Re: Lens changing and focal lengths

I have a Canon C100 and I try to keep lens changes to a minimum.
Canon 18-135 f3.5-5.6 if everything is exterior.
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 if it's interior.
Sigma 18-35 f1.8 for late night stuff.

Once...

Re: My favourite videos from last season.

Thanks Noa.
They are all filmed on a Canon C100 handheld (sometimes I use a Canon 700D as a B cam but not usually in the trailers). Focus is always a challenge! I have had others do some extra...

My favourite videos from last season.

As I was going over my weddings from 2015 to see what I liked and where I need to improve, I thought it would be interesting to share 3 of my favourites to see what my peers think. So here you are...

Canon XC10 - Anyone used one at a wedding?

It's a camera that has a lot of haters, a lot of confusion as to who it's aimed at but quite a few very satisfied owners.
To me it looks like it could be a great camera to replace by 700D as a...

Re: What matters to you? - Camera Selection

Noa, that must have been scary!
I usually shoot with 1 camera. Maybe a 700d as a wide back up if possible. I always use the same brand and card when using dual slot recording. I won't mix a 16gb...

Re: Vsco film

Firstly, great filming and edit of a beautiful wedding. Congratulations.

The colours are lovely. Very natural. What was it filmed on? Did I understand correctly that you made the LUTs yourself?

Re: What matters to you? - Camera Selection

Whilst there there is only the best camera you can afford for your needs at any given time...I'll repeat that one of the most important aspects in choosing a C100 over say a GH4 was the dual slot...

Re: What matters to you? - Camera Selection

Matthias,
I use a Canon C100 as well. In general it's great, I love being able to control most things with the joystick in the grip. The only downsides are the VF, LCD screen and no 50p although I...

Re: Static Camcorder Options - An Up To Date Thread

They look good enough to me. Obviously the lighting on the guests' tables isn't as bright as the main table. Maybe it would be better to have your locked off camera (cx730) facing the guests? That...

Re: used c100 mk1 - still make sense?

He wanted to trade in his canon but was worried about losing his favourite colour space.
Besides, he's not that worried about the latest fad.

Re: Camcorders only

Will the A6000 not overheat even with an external recorder? Sounds an expensive and potentially unreliable solution. What about focus? I have been using a Canon 700D as a b cam but focus is a problem...

Re: Camcorders only

Thanks clive. I guess the CX730 is used for a wide safety shot and the A6000 and the RX10ii for more detail?

Re: DJI Osmo for Weddings?

Sounds interesting although quite expensive. I'd need to see how the camera performs first.
This could be a better solution although we have to wait and see.

Re: New XC-10 Footage

Interesting video Mark.
To my eyes the XC10 looked better in the exteriors and the RX10ii possibly better in the interiors. It would have been interesting to see how they both handled the interior...

Re: Totting up the damage

One of the pins on the XLR unit of my Canon C100 broke whilst setting up the first shot in a wedding in the middle of nowhere so no XLR sound. Had to rig up a lav mic to min jack for scratch sound....

Re: New XC-10 Footage

Mark,
I think this is a problem many are facing. The Canons produce lovely images and colours but are very expensive when comparing to the specs on the latest Sonys. The problem is that the Sonys...

Re: Big upgrade wedding camera

I have a C100 mk1 (having previously had a Sony PD170 and various Canon dslrs). It's a great camera and pretty easy to use and get great results. It's only down sides are the LCD and the VF which are...

Re: Editing chairs and other stuff

I've used this for the last 5 years or so:

It has a head rest and the angle of the chair is...

Re: FCPX - Canon C100 Progressive appearing as interlaced (after change in settings)

Hi Erick, thank for the reply.
That is the technique I usually use. Today, for some reason, it isn't working properly. It's like the PsF footage is already progressive (at least looking at it)...
