Yeah sounds like a defect. I own a similar tripod (Libec T72) and it has no problems holding up my Sony Z5 which is about the same weight as yours.

If you wanted something cheaper than maybe a Sony Z7 with a 300mm DSLR lens on it would work well. Remember you'll need an extremely steady tripod!

Like others have said its the NLE your using. In most cases its handy having the clips split up, makes it quicker to find on the one you want and you dont have to waste time cutting it all up.

Is a XH A1 size camera really that intrusive, I mean its not like a full shoulder mounted one which would be intimidating.

I think for your situation something like a 7D or 5D would be the best...

Yeah the Z5 is great for weddings and the batteries etc will work with it. I chose the Z5 back in July because I wanted to stick to Tape mainly for broadcast reasons. Its alot easier to give footage...

one lav mic will pick everyone up easily enough. Just make sure you place it lower down on the grooms suit than you normally would as it helps equal out the distance from the mic a bit better making...

Might be best to keep the 4:3 footage as it is in the 16:9 frame, then create a track underneath with the same footage but 16:9 and blurred. This creates a nice looking way of displaying 4:3 footage...
