Re: The Blackmagic Pocket camera - not as sharp...
The real question is how this camera compares to DSLRs. That's who they are essentially undercutting; all the people buying DSLRs for video (The larger BMCCs are to some extent too, just because of...

Re: MoVI BTS Stabiliser Rig
Yeah, matching pan and tilt with movement is probably going to be a bit tricky in more complicated shots/reframes. I wager that's where some twitch is going to come from. With a Steadicam you get...

Re: MoVI BTS Stabiliser Rig
Just combining it with an Easy Rig sort of thing would probably do the trick. They're not too expensive, depending on who you ask. (although not much cheaper than the lighter Steadicam vests).
I...

Re: Western Australian types represent
The advantage of reddit itself I'm not too sure about, as far as a platform. It's essentially a convenient way to set up a small forum without hosting a vbulletin or something similar, which is a...

Western Australian types represent
I don't know if it's beyond the pale here, but I'm starting a reddit page for the sharing of local info for us people from the far end of the earth.
If you're from there/here why not stop by and...

Re: Sell your work on Vimeo ..
Youtube already does it. See, for instance:
Wake in Fright - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/movie/wake-in-fright?feature=mv_sr)
I'm not sure what the cut is or the buy in or whatever. Vimeo...

Re: "Film is Finished"
Apropos of no comment in particular; as much as I love it too, it is easy to over estimate the desire for a 'retro look' outside filmmakers themselves who have a breadth of aesthetic influences and...

Re: Meet the Digital Bolex 16!
There's an interesting quote on the blog post
"I have heard some people say “just give me a brick with a sensor in it”. And I understand that mentality, but as someone working every day to bring a...

Re: Black Magic Cinema Camera
I know of someone who calls the recent past the Red Era, in terms of how things look on TV, music vids and ads and so on: all foggy mids and dusky hues. We were speculating that it's not even all...

Re: Nice Chinese photo/video montage
It doesn't change perfectly though. The people are still flat. You could probably build that from photos in After Effects or something, with planes working for the tables, or maybe some...

Re: Meet the Digital Bolex 16!
They'd have be going head to head with Canon and Sony in the handycam market, as a start up. I'm sure they'd get chewed up and spat out.

Re: Meet the Digital Bolex 16!
That's an interesting list. Stuff lower end pro-sumer cams rarely care about, it seems. Nice to see but also somewhat necessary I suppose, since the BMC really upstaged them on the essential 'Raw...

Re: Meet the Digital Bolex 16!
Looks like a Bolex. Not sure what people were expecting there.
The BMCC looks like two iPhone's glued together with a lens mount on the back. *shrug*

Re: Particle world bad "pop-in"
As you say it's particles crossing in front of each other. There's probably something you can do that will spread them out a bit, but it will probably still happen.
I don't think it's really...

Re: Sliding square video mask/effect
These are pretty complicated to make usually. This one probably came in a stock pack of them where it's just a matter of inserting the video clips you want to use and changing the text.
I can't...

Re: Max ISO setting 60d/7d
From memory testing showed 1250ISO has about the same amount of noise as 800. 1000 actually has more than 1250.
This is all to do with that 'native ISO' stuff which I don't really understand...

Re: 7D or 60D for HD Dslr?
That takes me back. I think that video sold me on the 60D in the end, despite its lukewarmness. But they're photography nerds. They just don't get it.
Even now you do still find people who swear...

I'm a little late, but it's not horrible. Next to the real thing you'd notice, but it's quite servicable as it is for the average audience.
I don't know what you used, but if you feather the...
