Re: Canon Telephoto Prime Lenses, no IS!

I have the 70-200mm f4L IS and the 70-200 f2.8 non-IS, and my preference is the f2.8. I don't miss the IS at all.

Re: 5D mk III Randomly Records to SD Card Instead of CF card

Yep. It just happened to me today. Maybe we're doing something wrong.

Re: Need Stabilizer Tips (Blackbird)

There's no way I could walk like Groucho Marx that long. My knees would fall off.

And those colors! How did people keep their meals down?

A couple of years ago I decided I just had to have a...

Re: Digital Juice

Well, I was right at the point of changing my email address and dealing with the hassle that brings. I went into the properties settings in yahoo and tried everything to fend off the 3 or 4 DJ spams...

Re: Digital Juice

I tried having it go right to spam on my Yahoo account, and it worked for two years, but suddenly it started popping up in my main In-box again. I mark them as spam, but they keep coming.

I even...

Re: Digital Juice

Nope. Mac guy here, although not a fanatic.

It's tempting to switch just to be able to get rid of these obnoxious spammers.

Re: Digital Juice

Interesting: They've dropped down to one a day now, but despite continued unsubscribes and requests for them to leave me alone, they're still coming. I guess their business is so good they don't care...

Digital Juice

A couple of years ago I purchased some items fro DJ. The product was fine. The problem is they have been spamming me two or three times a day ever since. I have unsuccessfully tried unsubscribing...

Re: Shoulder strap with clip on

The Black Rapid does look slick, but I find that I distrust any that fasten to the screw slot at the bottom. To each his own, as they say.

I hope you find the one that works for you.

Is yours the one on Craigslist that says "pristine condition?"

Re: how to check damage

I wasn't quite sure how to advise you on this without having experienced it, myself, so I intentionally dropped my 5D MK3 with the 70-200mm attached to see what would happen.

Just kidding. It was...

Re: Retraining...

I learned on Avid, got into Vegas in Version 4, tried Premiere and FCP Studio (and hated both). I stuck with Vegas even when I switched to Mac six years ago. But FCPX came along and I tried it...

Re: Confusing advice

Sound advice, and from names I've come to trust on this forum. Thanks.

It's just the stuff on Apples'S FP+CPX forum and others aren't as positive. U don't want to get into thrashing preferences or...

Confusing advice

I've been leaning on the fence for some time now about Mavericks. There are some negative (and quite scary) comments here and on other forums, but for the most part the silent majority (and FCPX...

Re: Studio indoors. Allan Black if you are reading.

That they are, except the foxes. They still come around to mooch in the morning (because the mice & chipmunks and other varmints are scarce now), but they don't stick around too long because because...

Re: Studio indoors. Allan Black if you are reading.

Don't eat yellow snow.

And since I know about as much about sound as I do about nuclear physics, I can't help other than the yellow snow advisory.

I will be interested in reading qualified...

Re: Subcontracted video rights

Obviously you're an old geezer like me. You've got what they used to call scruples. We're a dying breed for the most part, but there are some younger folks who've posted on DVInfo who give me hope...

Re: Migrating to FCP X. Maybe. Issues having both installed? XDCAM Issues?

I bought the Larry Jordan series and I couldn't get through them. They move too slowly and his monotone voice sprinkled with feigned laughter was like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

The Izzy...

re: Helping Hands from 2014

Uh, I'm confused. As I read their policies, KickStarter clearly prohibits non-profit projects. They do that so they aren't inundated with them.

So if you shoot this project for free, you can also...

Re: I think I buying one today

Michael:

I think the 50mm suggestion is a good one for what you do. But spend the extra $150.00 and get the f1.4. It's sharp as a tack and the images hold up really nice when you zoom/crop in edit.

Re: I think I buying one today

Regarding zooming: I don't do it very often because in my mind it tends to be distracting. But when I do I just use the Ken Burns feature in Final Cut Pro X, or the crop feature in Photoshop for...

Re: Canon EOS 70D Video Shoot At Night

Yes, consider a lens hood, perhaps even a matte box with French flag and side shades.

And you may also want to consider getting a good, fluid head tripod. Jerky pans really take away from...
