Re: If I go FF, will f2.8 be fast enough?
If you're willing to shoot 6400, I find 2.8 is fast enough for pre-dance festivities, usually, like speeches, and 1.8 or so for the dance.
The real issue the the outlier, the random situation...

Re: Should I sell my XF305 for a 5D Mark III?
Only you'd be able to answer if the upgrade is worth it. Do you have any issues with the mark ii as it is? Would the increased ISO performance, or the reduced moire be noticeably beneficial? For...

Re: Timelapse = Looking for tips and tricks
I'm just trying to learn when to use it :) So far, the only one I've tried and will use in a video is that sunrise over the barn shot.
I did a test shot a few weeks ago with the bride's dress...

Indeed. Nick, there are plenty of sites where you can license fantastic music to use legally.

Re: Timelapse = Looking for tips and tricks
In Magic Lantern, I think it's called 'Forced FPS' where you can go as slow as 2(ish) fps and the resulting file is a .mov file at 24fps so the work is all done for you.
Example, in my clip I...

"No."

Re: Matching shots from different cameras
A relative newbie here, but my strategy when filming has been to focus less on matching the cameras to each other and instead match each camera to what I see with my eyes.
In post (Sony Vegas),...

That remote looks like the one I use(d) and it's fine though these days I use the Magic Lantern features. It allows for me to do either a traditional time lapse or to force the fps down as low as...

Re: Finally upgrading to 6d
My understanding is, if you're planning on doing photos often, the 7D (and maybe the t5i, though I have no direct experience with it) would be your best bet, then. Example: Used Canon EOS 7D SLR...

Re: Finally upgrading to 6d
If you go with the Rebel Series, don't bother with kit lens. Even if you want those lenses, you can buy them gently used for cheaper than that bundle.
Unless you really want the extra cross...

In our short experience, its infuriating when they haven't told you something to plan for. These random things that we can't anticipate are EXACTLY what will help make their video unique and theirs....

Re: 1st try at Save-the-Date
I figured.
We'll be discussing it. Trying to see if things like the Save the Date, or a video diary (tag along when they go for the dress, or the like) would add value. If they do, it seems like...

I took a beloved hard case rolling luggage that I had, and fit in custom foam to hold everything. Lots of pockets for everything, too.

1st try at Save-the-Date
Over a year and 12 events into our business, we're testing another value-add: the Save-the-Date.
Seems to me that it'll be hard to price well, so it may end up as an option folded into another...

Re: Whatever happened to the first dance?
When MC/DJ, I actually create short edits of songs for them to use for the 1st dance, and parent dances, if they want. Bring a 4 minute song down to 2-3. Soooo much better when they want it to be...

Re: Finally upgrading to 6d
Once we decided to go DSLR, the T3i (and now the T5i) and a gently used Mark ii were our direction as the best combo of price versus performance. And both tend to give good access to Magic Lantern...

Re: Renting a 5d mark iii, questions
Good to know, Nigel. We don't go above 6400 on our Mark ii (we had a *REALLY* dark reception) and don't even pretend to use our 600D/T3i's once the dim of the reception turns into the dark of the...

Re: Renting a 5d mark iii, questions
At least get a Canon 50mm f/1.8 for $100. You'll want that f/stop at any reception in the low light (same as 35mm on your old 550D), and I use it when I walk around shooting faces - a little bit of...

Re: Renting a 5d mark iii, questions
The biggest difference will be button locations (for me, how to change your aperture was the biggest change).
Much better white balance control options on the mark iii.
Moving over to full...
