Re: Video Editing Software For GL-2 Cameras

Bob,

AVCHD is indeed a lot more demanding than mini DV so make sure you check that as you test. Sounds like your system hardware will be adequate to the task and it'll just be a matter of...

Re: Video Editing Software For GL-2 Cameras

Bob,

"What NLE" gets asked fairly regularly, and the answer is easy in your case because you want to edit mini-DV: get the nonlinear editing software you find most intuitive when you try it.

Re: Mastering Tascam DR100MKII audio for Premiere CS6

As mentioned, you can't create stereo imaging from a single mono track. But if you want that mono track to be replicated as identical left and right channels, you can do that.

In PPro, right...

Re: Finding CS5 downloads, for fresh install?

Jeff, you're referring to "activation" and before re-doing your computer, you definitely should deactivate. FWIW, I had one instance a few years ago where my C drive hard failed immediately after...

Re: anyone use/like/dislike at897 shotgun mic?

What Battle and Don said. I use mine frequently as a stereo pair for outdoor events and even as backup to a AT4050 pair in auditoriums and I'm happy with them. As stated, they're not especially...

Re: Very slow encodes in Premiere CS6 anyone?

That's correct, because you're not really making use of it. CUDA is used for GPU accelerated effects, color space conversions, de-interlacing, and blends. It doesn't do basic decompression /...

Re: GoPro Protune

For recent versions of PPro, just import and adjust to suit. Since it is a minimally processed file, you'll probably want to tweak with a color corrector and maybe add a bit of sharpening. That...

Hero3 Black Blue remote light

Anyone know how to turn off the blinking blue wi-fi remote light on the front of GoPro Hero3 Black while keeping wi-fi functioning? I tried the 4-light option in the menu and it doesn't affect the...

Re: GoPro HD3 October ???

I just picked up a couple Blacks and they do come with the skeleton back, just as the user manual indicates. It isn't a whole separate housing, but a replaceable hinge-back, functionally similar to...

Re: What tripod for XF300?

IMO, sticks on the Ace are a bit light-duty. You won't go wrong with a Vinten Vision Blue.

No the depth of field is essentially the same. Although they have different form factors and different sensor blocks (1 CMOS vs 3 CMOS), they are both 1/3" cameras.

Re: Least worst drift in portable recorders?

Dave, it is good to hear that your experience about drift between devices is similar to Noa's and mine.

A couple of frames variability is possible in a typical venue if you're on the move, but a...

Re: Least worst drift in portable recorders?

We shouldn't go too far afield from the original topic, but a couple quick replies to Richard's and Steve's comments.

Certainly, temperature extremes have some effect on crystal oscillation...

Re: Least worst drift in portable recorders?

In the type of multi-cam event shooting that I've been doing recently, it is not practical to stay tethered. I jam LTC and then untether. That requires a male BNC to male XLR cable (probably hard to...

Re: Least worst drift in portable recorders?

Richard and Steve, I don't think several seconds worth of drift within an hour is either usual or acceptable. Something's wrong there.

The amount of drift that Noa is describing is more what...

Re: Question on CF Cards - XF 100

I've never tried it myself and I would have guessed (wrongly) that you can't access the menus while recording, but page 38 of the English version of the XF100/XF105 user manual has a note:

- While...

Re: PC Video Editing software recommendation

I think you're being prudent to download the trial versions to try before you buy. As Burk Webb pointed out earlier, Premiere is becoming very popular for former FCP users. PPro ain't what it used...
