I use TDKs and I have no problem. Your problem might just be resources or speed of your computer and not tape/camera problem.

HDV is lossy. By exporting in HDV you lose quality. It might be an easy solution for you, but for me that would be unacceptable. Especially because AVCHD is still not as good as pure HDV in quality....
