I've gotten some good frame grabs - just opne a clip in the browser software and the lower right of the bar has an icon of a still camera.
Click it, save the frame as a tiff and you are ready to go....

Slow shutter effect
When I used to have a Z1u once in a great while I used the slow shutter speeds for a blurred time effect - everything in the frame that was moving, or when the camera moved it would leave a trail....

Yes, the EX3 has a monitor out but the picture quality is terrible. The small plug and wires coming out of the composite jack are an accident waiting to happen, so I don't care to use them either....
