Re: fs700 run and gun

I make and use a kit for the 700 that is very compact and can be expanded including rail if you need them.

It can be seen and ordered here:

Re: Playing out EX3 clips

I think your LT is a bit marginal. More RAM may help but better CPU and GPU is definitely recommended. A fast healthy HD or SSD helps too.

This 4 core setup has absolutely no problems even editing...

Re: Odyssey Battery Bracket now in stock at Westside A V

Yes I could make a double plate kit, if you like. I would not use a Y cable I would make a jumper between the plates that you could disconnect. So you could use just one if you wanted too.

I can...

Re: Odyssey Battery Bracket now in stock at Westside A V

The only way to get power into the Odysseys without voiding the warranty is the proprietary plug. No tools are needed to mount the battery, it just plugs in, the cam screw is an extra precaution that...

I will give them a call today to find out what is up. As soon as I...

Re: Should I let 4K be a deciding factor?

I see the FS700 as a very good investment at this time.

The big step up from the 100 is the ND's and easily relocated handle. And the slomo 2K RAW, I almost forgot.

And with the addition of...

Re: Odyssey Battery Bracket now in stock at Westside A V

I just got this reply from CD about low battery situation:

"I believe the unit already has a low voltage warning that is based on the current and amps that is provided to the unit.

We have...

Re: Odyssey Battery Bracket now in stock at Westside A V

The "cam" thumb screw is a battery retention cam. It is optional but a very secure way to retain the battery. I have a different battery plate coming in a few weeks that does not need this "cam"....

Re: Odyssey Battery Bracket now in stock at Westside A V

The O7Q has a continuous voltage read out on the upper bar. Future firmware may provide a blinking warning you can program. I have not tried disconnecting the power to see what happens if you loose...

This battery bracket for the Odyssey 7Q works with the Sony or Swit batteries for the Sony FS700. It mounts on the back of the Odyssey on either the left or right side and is fully compatible with...

Re: ANTON BAUER QR-EX3 Gold Mount Adapter for the Sony PMW-EX3

AB batts work great with the EX cams they are the right voltage and run off the D-tap. Or as I do with my shoulder kit from an internal cable that leaves the D-tap open for lights recorders etc.

Anyway this is my solution for the mounting of the 7Q or any heavier monitor.

The price is $225.00, if you already have my 15 mm...

Re: Tips on using FS700 footage in FCPX

I have a good workflow in Resolve now for the DNG files from the O7Q.

Plug the SSD into your computer and it auto mounts.

Go to Resolve I use latest V10. Import the DNG folders as clips.

Re: Photos of O7Q in action...

As a monitor the 7Q is fantastic, but I would consider the 7 if you only need a monitor.

Here is a screen grab from a Resolve graded shot from my tests.

It is from 2K raw Slog2.

Tips on using FS700 footage in FCPX

Use Compressor to convert the RAW DNG or DPX picture sequences to ProResHQ or what ever.

This makes it easy to deal with in FCPX or other Mac Apps.

It takes a while but results are good.

I...

There are no hard and fast rules. It is up to you and your style of shooting/editing.

Re: Odyssey 7Q Now Shipping!

There are 2 SSD's available from CD. A 256 and a 512.

These are proprietary and the only ones that will work.

Westside A V and other CD dealers are stocking the SSD's and other accessories....

Re: Quality 24p footage?

I have both the FS700 and the C100, and I think both are great cameras. I use both a lot, they can easily be matched. I would say the the Canon has a better look ungraded, but with a bit of work the...

Re: Jitter with panning

Remember the seven second rule.

For any object crossing the width of the frame,it should take 7 seconds or more to be smooth in 24fps recording.

Use 180º shutter (1/48).

If following a car...

Re: Tips for shooting green screen?

The 700 will work fine with chroma keying. I use the PP that gives me the best overall picture, with nice skin tones.

Pulling good keys easily. Is a matter of lighting well. Use a large space if...

Re: Matching a NEX-5N to a FS700 - is it possible?

By grading you can match the color and gamma pretty close. The NEX has a lot less DR so try to light well for the NEX, don't let the bright areas blow out. If the shot looks good from the NEX it will...
