Re: Speeding up video while maintaining frame rate in Premiere

If you drop 24p footage onto a 30p timeline, it will no longer play back at 24p either. It will...

Re: Lens Repair

You might be better off just trawling eBay to see if you can pick up a cheap relacement. I've seen plenty of kit lenses sell for about $60 there, which might even work out to be cheaper than...

Re: Need to buy a new lens ASAP - Sigma or Canon?

Just to make things more confusing for you... I'd pass on the Simga as there's better options available now - like the new Tamron 24-70 VC.

The old Canon 24-70 is also still a great lens, but I'd...

Re: Master Guide to Rigging a Nikon D800/D800E

Re: Master Guide to Rigging a Nikon D800/D800E

A pretty comprehensive guide you have put together there Sareesh!

A few little things I think are worth mentioning:

You do not really mention the benefits of a steadycam system. It really is a...

Re: EX3 .mov files on PC.

Alister, I can only operate on what I've been told.

Either way it was easy once I knew what I needed to do... just borrowed a friends MAC and used MPEG Streamclip clip to convert everything to...

Re: EX3 .mov files on PC.

Well, I tried out a few of the programs with no luck... because it turns out the files have been transcoded to AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec).

I only found this out after the Calibrated XD Decode...

Re: GoPro Protune

As long as it's available by November I'm not too fussed... that's when I'd really like to have the new features as I'll be shooting some footage to cut into a short film - the first time I've used...

Re: Photographer hostility?

Brett, I agree with you that flash, espescially on camera, is not always a necessary, and the greatest shots are usually achieved by great use of natural light, but this was after all a press event....

Re: Attention serious documentary filmmakers!

If you'd like, I'll give you a whole bunch of reasons why shooting a doc with a gopro is not a good idea. Then you'll be inspired to go and prove me wrong!

Seriously though, I could picture a doc...

Re: Photographer hostility?

Haha, I like this one. Sometimes is wish I was a nastier person just so that I could say things like this to people. Instead I usually just smile, nod, then ignore them.

Re: Non-OEM batteries for Canon

I had three non-genuine batteries for my 60D and they were all junk. One fell apart after a two weeks use (cracked open at the joins in the casing, was never dropped or mishandled). One did not sit...

EX3 .mov files on PC.

Hi all,

I have been given some footage shot with an EX3 that was then downloaded onto a Mac in a .mov container using the Sony software. As far as I know these are the original files and there has...

Sliding plate for 502HD & 701HDV

Hi all,

Can anybody confirm that the Manfrotto 701HDV and 502HD heads will accept the same sliding plates?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a new tripod and monopod combo for DSLR shooting....

Re: Should Premiere and After Effects be merged?

Thanks Ann, I'd overlooked the circle effect. Instead I had been using the ramp effect and blend modes, then using the transform effect to make it wider.

I suppose with multiple layers it is...

Re: Should Premiere and After Effects be merged?

I wouldn't like to see them merged - that would result in one severely overcomplicated program - from a programmers perspective and a users perspective. Not to mention it would throw the whole...

Re: What frame rate for mountain bike video?

I'd shoot it at 50p and edit on a 25p (UK standard frame rate) timeline. That way you can easily halve the speed, or just drop every 2nd frame to play it at real time.

If there's certain things...

Re: How 'waterproof' is the 5D Mk iii?

Film and digital an two very different beast when it comes to dealing with water. Film cameras, at their simplest, can be operated entirely mechanically. Now obviously the more advanced film cameras...
