What do you mean "all of a sudden"? Was it capturing and just stopped in the middle? Can you find what it DID capture? Are you sure you have your scratch disk set to the array?

Moving fonts shouldn't be a problem. Have you trashed the FCP Preferences?

I suspect 7mbps is too high. I rarely go over 5mbps.

Jeff,

7 mbps may be too high but do you suspect it is the cause of my problem? If so, why would it effect some clpis and not others?

It would be the first place to start looking. iDVD uses lower bit rates by default.

importing jpg file to browser

Greetings---
For some reason, my standard procedure of importing a 48K jpg file to my hard drive, and then dragging it into an appropriate browser folder in FCP, is met with an error message "error: unknown file". The jpg file is originating from a CD-R which I inserted into my OSX disc drive, then dragged to my hard drive, but rejected at the final step of bringing it into the browser. Any thoughts?

FCP4 or HD: Zooming in without jitters

How would you make it so you can have video playing then pause and zoom in without it jittering while it zooms in?

Make sure it is an actual copy of the file and not an alias. That is my first thought...

motion import to Final Cut pro HD

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to import a motion project to final cut pro HD. Basically it is an annimated banner I need to superimpose over some DV footage playing in the background.

For some reason it doesnt work though even after the render. Could somebody kindly tell the sequence. I must be doing something stupid.

Best

Use "Get Info" (Apple Key, "I" key) and get the size etc. How big is it?

You should try out a program called Atlantis2 (http://www.dvfilm.com/atlantis/index.htm).
It is basically a program (Mac and PC) that can convert from PAL to NTSC and vice versa. I have had pretty good experiences with it. I have tried at various post houses to get the conversion done more professionally, and Atlantis2 comes pretty close at a fraction at the cost at a post house.

Most pro production monitors support PAL and NTSC. For a deck, look at a Sony DSR-11 or DSR-25 which are both PAL and NTSC. To convert from PAL to NTSC for DVD, check out my standards conversion software at www.nattress.com which does a great job for this.

Encode in compressor not in DVD SP 3 as it can often guess the wrong field order.
