Keith Kline November 8th, 2007 10:32 PM

Still on the lookout.

Dennis Hingsberg November 9th, 2007 07:41 AM

Keith,

What's your budget? Have you checked ebay - look for some lowel products, specifically the Omni or DP. Omni is 500watts max and the DP is 1k. You can get barn doors for them, scrims.. not bad lights. I own some and use them along with my ARRI's and Softboxes.

Figure out if you really need fresnels, they are very expensive but great for throwing light far.. I like them for wide master shots for that purpose.

Dennis Hingsberg November 9th, 2007 07:46 AM

Keith I just took a look, there is a DP light with 1k bulb going for around $150, and a few omni lights up for sale. There's a whack of tota lights too which I've only ever used with an umbrella for fill to bring levels up in a room.

Lastly there is one auction with 2 lowel pro lights - these are a GREAT substitute for ARRI 150w which are like $300 each normally. The good thing with lowel pro is they go up to 200w I think..

Do not buy anything without barn doors - you might as well buy construction lights from home depot (yet another reasonable option if you want CHEAP and can build your own bard doors out of aluminum painted black if desired)

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any lighting related questions.

I'm looking for a 52mm thread Dave. I just found out that Optex went out of
business a few years ago. Apparently, many thought that the quality was better that Century Optics so I'm trying to find out for myself. I would appreciate it if you can let me know if you find one. Thanks!

Tom Hardwick November 9th, 2007 11:53 AM

52 mm huh? For a TRV900? Yes, John Beale's site showed that the Optex beat the Century.

Jared Teter November 9th, 2007 12:46 PM

$700 includes fees and shipping.

I´m looking for the 16* manual lens for the canon XL series as I have given up waiting for a new HD version from Canon.

Richard Alvarez November 9th, 2007 02:29 PM

Three of them for sale on Ebay right now, seem to be running around 800-900 US dollars. Not sure if it would be worth it to buy and ship where you're at, might be easier to buy a new one.

Stephen van Vuuren November 9th, 2007 02:40 PM

Sure do. I have a verified business account. PM for details.

David Simpson November 9th, 2007 02:53 PM

I have a K-tek K-CAM-SSM that I'll sell for $65 shipped.

Dave Blackhurst November 9th, 2007 03:27 PM

Hi Ben -

I'll keep an eye out on EBay - I stumbled across one at one time (Optex, 52mm no less!), interesting piece, definitely not a zoom through situation... when I sold mine there were a couple others that popped up too. They went for around $300-350, so you've got a budget to keep in mind... not bad when they were 1K new.

I don't know whether the Optex and the Century were actually different or not, when I researched it looked to me like somehow the two were related business wise... but the Optex is a solid piece of glass. Sort of superfluous for me once I went to shooting HDV, but an interesting way to increase the effective resolution of the camera.

I'll start watching for one, I always find the strangest stuff on Ebay! One might just turn up!

Hi Richard.
Thanks. They only ship to the US, but I had a reply from one seller just now. He is willing to ship to Norway, but can only accept wire transfer. I´ve only ever used paypal. Would you recommend doing a wire transfer?

I recently bought a Sachtler tripod here from a member of DVinfo. Used paypal and it worked like a dream (Thanks Laszlo). Shipped from Canada to Norway in a week.

That´s the reason I was hoping to find one here. Feels safer to buy here.

The price in Norway is exactly twice the price in the US. I would have to pay the custom fee though. Still worth it

Dan Keaton November 9th, 2007 05:04 PM

The items I purchased from Paul were extremely well packaged, and shipped promptly.

All of the items were as described, or in even better condition.

Another very smooth transaction from a great DVInfo.net member.

Richard Alvarez November 9th, 2007 05:23 PM

I completely understand preferring to buy within 'the community' here. More like buying 'from family'.

I can't reccomend what course of action for you is best. I HATE paypal, for reasons too involved to go into here. I know I wouldn't do a wire transfer unless I had a good phone number and address for the person on the other end, for sure.

Your call. The 16x comes up now and again on this board, but not as frequently as on Ebay... so I guess it depends on your needs.

Benjamin Cord November 9th, 2007 05:44 PM

Hey Tom. That John Beale site is awesome.

FS in US: SONY HVR-Z1U HDV Camera & Accessories

Hi,

I am selling my SONY HVR-Z1U 1080i 3 CCD HDV Camcorder + All Original Accessories + (1) NP-F970 Battery, (1) Petrol Raincoat, (1) Firewire Cable, (2) HDV Tapes & Sony Carry Case in nice condition.

The camera is used, but has been treated very well. You can see the hours on the photo of the hours meter below. Everything performs perfectly, and I believe the buyer will be very satisfied with this kit. Everything you need to start shooting is included in this sale. If you are reading this you are probably familiar with this camcorder, but one nice feature I like to point out is that this camera can shoot both NTSC and PAL footage (This is the U.S. model). Any additional questions, please feel free to email me at any time.

I would like to get $3,200 for everything. I will cover the Paypal and shipping costs.

Here are some photos:

Petrol PRC-S-HDV Raincoat
(2) Sony DVM63 HDV Tapes (63 minute tapes, both are sealed and new)
AC-VQ850 AC Adaptor/Charger
Remote Commander Unit RMT-841
A/V Cable
Component Video Cable
Firewire Cable
Sony Cleaning Tape
Shoulder Strap
Large Eyecup
Shoe Extender
Lens Hood with Integral Lens Cap
NPF-970 InfoLithium battery (battery will last a very long time, and holds a perfect charge)

Note: I also have this camera currently listed on Ebay. I figured I would offer it for sale here at a cheaper price for DV Info members. If someone wishes to purchase this camera, I will promptly end the Ebay auction (which currently has no bids).

Thanks,

John Dewey

Hvx200 Uk

as new condition, v low hours. 3 8gb p2 cards. P2 store. Century Optics wide angle, portabrace cover, LOADS of batteries. Original box, mic, charger.

Cost me about £7000

Literally a steal at £3300

London based but will ship anywhere in UK for £15

Chris Hurd November 10th, 2007 07:05 PM

But Phil you're practically giving it away

Phil Bloom November 10th, 2007 07:07 PM

I know, I know. It is pounds though and I need the cash to get the XDCAM EX!

What do you think I should be asking?

Chris Hurd November 10th, 2007 07:12 PM

I'd say at least 50% of your original purchase price (or current best dealer price, whichever is lower) -- you can still edit your original post!

Phil Bloom November 10th, 2007 07:22 PM

Ok Thanks!

See even Chris thinks it is a steal!

Hate to see it go, but there comes a point where you do actually have too many cameras. As much as I love it, I need the EX more as it matches my full size F350 perfectly

Mark Viducich November 10th, 2007 09:20 PM
