Re: Recommendations: Best Value Shotgun Mic for Indie Film

I'd be looking at the whole chain from mic to recording. A less expensive mic and a better recorder might make all the difference. And asking if you need things like Timecode. Some of the cameras...

Re: New Sound Devices MixPre-10M OYE!

Impressed with the MixPre-10T. For $99 you can add the "M" features. In the "M" the physical timecode BNCs are gone and it makes it $300 cheaper for musicians that would likely never use TC.

I do...

Re: Solution for 2x G2 Sennheiser RX on top of camera?

Hope the video above helps, I created it after getting a ton of calls on how to mount the Sennheiser receiver upon opening the box for the first time.

Not sure how "True" the statement from the...

Re: Sound Excellence ENG-44a Field Mixer

Interesting that this mixer is making a come back. I liked it a lot years ago as there wasn't really much on the market that directly compared for under $500. Nowadays, I'd also be looking at :

Re: Trying to put together a general purpose audio kit - advice?

Skip the Azden and take a look at the Zoom F8 or Sound Devices Mix Pre-D. The Azden is a dinosaur compared to a modern mixer/recorder that you can get for just a few hundred more. IMO the Zoom F8...

Re: New Zoom F8

Finally got one one of these loaned to me. I'd have to say, the pre-amps on the Zoom F8 are not as bad as I thought they would be. While not Sound Devices great, they are better than most anything...

Re: Sanken COS-11D on the Sennheiser G2/G3 systems

Glad to hear that the replacements arrived safely. We can build the Sanken COS-11D to either length 1.8M or 3.0M, but what we keep in stock is 6.5' as that is what seems to be a good working length....

Re: Sanken COS-11D on the Sennheiser G2/G3 systems

The Sanken COS-11D is available in 1.8 or 3.0 meter lengths. We carry the longer version, which is about 6.5'. Sennheiser uses metal locking collars. We use a 3.5mm plastic locking collar with a...

Re: Sanken COS-11D on the Sennheiser G2/G3 systems

Tough gigs if you're snapping connectors! I know that you also had the transmitter pouches too, did those not work out? On the inexpensive side, I would get some heat shrink tubing and put it on the...

We have a local...

Re: Syncing the presenter's A/V content

Great suggestions by a lot of folks here. A 2nd inexpensive camera (even standard def) is one way to get the sync down for the edit.

Depending on how often that you'll be doing these types of...

Re: Headphones for Monitoring Audio

Take a listen to the Sennheiser HD-25-1-II - they're more popular abroad, whereas most in US prefer the Sony 7506. Once I tried the Sennheisers 5 years ago, I never went back to the Sonys. Love 'em....
