Re: Replay XD footage test

Ahhh forgot that I need to test the audio as well...it has a mic in which I'm assuming would work with a lav. Hopefully it will be really good!

Re: Replay XD footage test

Want to send me a gopro and contour? I only own the replay and an older 720p contour. My friend has been doing a bunch of work with his gopro. Promise I will do a side by side with those two once...

Re: Something new from Canon on Nov. 3rd...

4k is something ive been wishing for since getting into greenscreen and compositing. Not that 1080p is bad but the extra resolution would be nice.

Having the larger frame size would allow me to...

Re: Any experience with R/C aerial shooting?

Agreed that some people progress faster than others but it is one thing to do the 3D flying (which I am quite good at) and trying to develop the control to keep things smooth. One of the best pilots...

Re: Any experience with R/C aerial shooting?

I'm very concerned about the number of people who are of the mindset that it's an easy thing to fly a heli or multirotor. I've been flying fixed wing and rotary wing RC for over 20 years and with the...

Re: My Exercise Model Looks Yellow (Settings Help)

I subscribe to this theory and workflow as well. I do edit and grade for a lot of other shooters and they are shocked by what a few clicks can do to the footage they thought looked good. And not that...

Re: Cool Lights 256 LED & Pearstone battery no go?

Thanks Mark!
Might have to go that route! After talking to the tech, we went through everything short of digging into the light and battery circuitry. It seems that something in the light and...

Pearstone NP-F975 L-Series Lithium-Ion Battery BPS-F975 B&H

As BH states it's the replacement for the Sonys listed on the Cool Lights site and imprinted on the adapter on the light itself. Just...

Re: possible for boom mic to be too close?

Additionally, the further away from the talent, the more wiggle room the talent has as the pattern gets wider further away from the mic.
If the action is moving too fast to keep the boom 2-3 ft...

Re: NX5 w/ Ikan HDMI LCD Monitor - Poor Picture Quality

First, I agree that the vh7 looks terrible at 24p. At 30p it's very good for the money.

Second, I disagree that you need an expensive monitor to shoot in those conditions. Yes of course it would...

Cool Lights 256 LED & Pearstone battery no go?

I've had a pair of Cool Lights 256 LED fixtures for a while and finally decided to get some batteries for use out and about.
They state they are compatible with Sony NP9xx batteries so I bought a...

Re: RC Airplanes and Helicopters

LOL! Not quite...I know theres a company that makes a 12' long turbine powered heli that essentially has a cineflex ball on the nose. (i dont think its an actual cineflex but i could be wrong!)...

Re: RC Airplanes and Helicopters

If you're thinking cameras, gopro, contour, replayXD would be no issue for the helis in the video which sounded like .60 or .90 size. Small palmcorders shouldn't be a problem either. However, the...

Re: Which VideoCam comp to 5Dmk2 video?

Well, purists and old school stay away from all things auto... I however, am neither. The XF's have an amazingly effective AF which even has a face detect mode. If I'm shooting people, the face...

Re: green tint wb on ex1r

LED was the red flag that went up for me too upon reading your issue. Instead of yellow filter, try a minus green on the LED. If it's a daylight fixture (which all of mine are) I white balance with a...

Haven't gotten to compare to the contour or gopro yet. Check in the POV camera thread for the vids.

Re: RC Airplanes and Helicopters

Been flying RC for about 20 years and thats one of the nicest vids I've seen on the subject. Great energy. Sad ending for the Hughes 500 though! But that's part of the game!

Re: final cut studio are you on iMac or mac pro

Have to second that comment. I'm on a 3 year old Mac pro and while I bought it with 16gb ram, the video card will be my upgrade as I already own cs5.5 production premium. Still runs FCP as fast as it...

Re: Shutter Speed/180˚ rule

As with most rules, they can be broken and the manufacturers have given us the ability to do so regarding shutter speed.
Same thing as a car manufacturer allowing it's vehicle to do 150mph. Can you...

Re: Which VideoCam comp to 5Dmk2 video?

To me it depends on the look you're going for. If it's corporate video or similar I tend to shoot pretty flat on both and lightly grade in post. If it's more cinematic I let the 7D do what it's best...
