Re: what is this slider?

I get that its different and has limitations, but the idea of a slider short enough that you could probably leave it on your tripod for most of the morning appeals to me.

Re: Facebook

There are separate pages for businesses. You use your existing personal page still, so they're tied together a little.

For instance, when I go to facebook, in the top right, I can switch over to...

Re: Any new thoughts on the processional?

Chris, I LOVE the fly wire idea.

As for me, in the U.S., we rarely have to deal with the exterior doors being right there. Would a 3/4 shot, on a high tripod, from up front on the side fix your...

Re: Low cost lav solution

If you're talking about pocket recorders, the Olympus DM-620 is slender, or the Tascam DR-05 (a little thicker) are had for under $100 each. I have 3 pocket recorders and a Tascam DR-40.

Re: GoPro Hero 4: Extended battery life

Like the others said, you're kind of stuck.

Get an extra long USB cord if you want to be able to hid the power pack.

Don't use WiFi to get 40ish minutes out of the battery.

I use my GoPro in...

Re: Drone Hits British Airways Plane at London Heathrow

I'm surprised an airliner flying 150 mph (240 Kph for you folks out of the U.S.) could even SEE a drone.

Re: Informative Video on High Dynamic Range from Canon

For that level of difference (indoor to outdoor), you'll either have to add lighting to your interiors so it more closely matches outdoors, or shoot HDR footage, so you're exposing for both indoor...

Re: Will buy a new camera

Canon 80D vs Canon 70D - Is it better in low light? - YouTube

Low light comparison video for 70D v 80D. Not an earth shattering improvement, but slightly better.

80D also does 60fps at 1080.

Re: DJI Phantom 1 - Outdated?

For comparison, the 3dr Solo and the new DJI 4 professional basically fly themselves. It makes the learning curve almost zero.

I know the Solo, at least, you tell it you want a dolly shot, crane,...

Re: Will buy a new camera

I agree that the new features on the 80D aren't really worth paying extra. I do absolutely love the touch screen autofocusing and would immediately buy a 4K capable 70D with good (or decent) low...

Re: Ceremony Coverage / Audio Old Post and Suggestions for Current Setup

Forgot about your pocket question...

Putting a recorder in the groom's pocket gets you similar results to anytime a mic rubs against fabric... a lot of noise.

For looping mic wires, I use black...

Re: Ceremony Coverage / Audio Old Post and Suggestions for Current Setup

For me, the on camera mics are ambient and fail safe.

I've got lav to pocket recorder on groom, pastor, lectern, and have a Tascam DR-40 to recorda line out, if the sound system is available, or I...

Re: Lens changing and focal lengths

I have both full frame and crop factor cameras.

I don't like switching, but like having options on hand.

So, for instance, if the lighting is just too dark, its nice to have 35mm f/2, 50mm...

Re: DJ Light Mounting advice

Clive, I find lights on 2 corners of the dance floor is best. Often the DJ will have his own lights and so its the opposite side that becomes a problem. When I DJ, or if I'm doing video and the...

Re: DSLR under $1,000 for beginner

If its for video, she should consider the Canon 70D, gently used, no lenses, $700. Under $900 for the camera and the 18-135mm STM lens. Touch screen follow focusing makes it very easy.

STM...

Re: What matters to you? - Camera Selection

My list is easy:

Good enough low light performance
Touch screen focusing
...
Price

That's about it. Shooting only weddings, I probably have 1-3 years before 4K is needed, and by the looks...

Re: Canon EOS 80D with Power Zoom Adapter, more for videographers

Well... I hope the low light performance is at least much, much better. Otherwise, yeah, what's the point? A *slight* up grade to the 70D? A headphone jack and 60fps in 1080?

Give me an iso...

I thought this was relevant to this discussion.

Re: American Wedding Group?

I'm trying to remember the exact number, but I'm almost sure that, as a DJ, I got a call from The Pros (all the same people) and they offered by $180. To drive 2 hours.

Re: 4k vs HD

The reason you bought a 4K camera isn't necessarily for now. Its because, if you're going to buy a camear now, you want a camera that will meet standards in 2-5 years, when 4K IS the standard.

Re: Is a vest necessary?

I can't answer any of the questions other than this one:

The vest would actually help your back, not hurt it, by distributing the weight more evenly across your entire body, upper and lower.
