Re: Off-topic question about 1DC lens situation...

Sabyasachi, surely the normal photographic EF lenses will cover 4K too? They're designed for the larger full frame sensor, yes? I know they aren't strictly speaking cine lenses, but you can outfit...

Re: Off-topic question about 1DC lens situation...

When I started shooting on DSLR's, I took a cue from the great Philip Bloom, and I only used a 50mm prime lens to learn with. Not even an expensive one, just the $150 plastic 50mm 1.8. It's still...

Re: Off-topic question about 1DC lens situation...

Again, just guessing here, but the EF Cinema zoom lenses may be a different beast from standard EF lenses, even though they have a standard EF mount. All the canon literature on the EF Cinema Zoom...

Re: Off-topic question about 1DC lens situation...

This is just a guess, but the EOS Cinema lenses were designed for the C300/C500, no? Those cameras sport a super 35mm sized sensor, similar to APS-C.

Since the full frame sensor of the 5D and...

white balancing in dim light

So here's a shooting situation I frequently find myself in--dim tungsten light. As I understand it, and please correct me if I'm wrong, as tungsten light sources are dimmed, they shift more and more...

Re: Import C300 footage without audio conforming?

Thanks Roger, but that didn't work either. I copied an MXF file to a random new folder, imported into premiere, but Premiere still conforms and creates a .CFA file.

I'm not using the canon XF...

Re: Import C300 footage without audio conforming?

Thanks, but my sequence does match the footage, as best I can tell. Even if I have NO sequence, and I import the clips, it starts conforming.

Import C300 footage without audio conforming?

Hi all. Using CS5.

I have hundreds of newly acquired clips shot with a Canon C300. I believe the C300 records audio in uncompressed PCM 16-Bit 48 kHz. I believe that format is natively...

Re: Same CF Cards as the XF line?

UPDATE: I shot about 500 GB of footage with the C300 last week. Most was at 1080/24p 50mbps. Almost all of the footage was shot with the Transcend 400x 64 GB cards, including some long shoots...

Re: Same CF Cards as the XF line?

Yeah, that's what the documentation says. I'm just confused why the 400x Transcend cards work fine for hours in the XF105 at 50mbps. Isn't it the exact same codec and bitrate?

I purchased a few...

Same CF Cards as the XF line?

Hi all. I'm going to be shooting with the C300 for the first time next week. I have several Transcend 400x 64GB cards that work perfectly in my XF105. I assumed these cards would work in the C300...

Revenge of the plastic skin!

Howdy, all. I know it's been brought up before, but I am still struggling with skin tones while shooting with a T2i and T3i.

Below, you will find two talking head videos, shot with largely the...

Re: 5d MK lll Overheating?

Don't know about the 5D MkIII. My T2i would overheat after about 40 minutes of solid recording. My newer T3i has never overheated.

Re: New shots from the XF100

Pavel, this is absolutely beautiful work.

One of the cameras in my arsenal is a 105, and the image always seems so drab out of the camera. At a minimum I always have to crush the blacks a bit,...

Re: Wedding with TV Crew

Don, I wasn't suggesting Craig try to get the footage from the camera operators, and I completely agree it is a long-shot, but it just seems foolish to have two separate professional video crews...

Re: Wedding with TV Crew

I wonder, would it have been possible to simply negotiate with the TV crew for the raw footage, so you could edit an extended video for the Couple and their family while the production team made...

Re: 24p

Absolutely. 24p is one part of the puzzle when it comes to a cinematic look. For me (and many others) 24p, a large sensor, the ability to use shallow depth of field when you want, a 180 degree...

Re: Decent Premier Pro CS5.5 Editing LAPTOP?

We took advice from Karl Soule of Adobe TV and got an HP Elitebook Mobile Workstation 8760w. My work partner uses it more than I do, but he loves it.

Side note, Julian, I HIGHLY recommend getting...

Re: Video: 5D Mk. II compared to 5D Mk. III

The low-light functionality really excites me. This will be great for weddings. Hopefully I'll be able to get cleaner and brighter images while also using a slightly slower lens, like an f2.8 zoom.

Re: 5DMK3 Question

Do we know if the MkIII will avoid the overheating problem? My T2i overheats after about 45 minutes of constant recording. But my T3i has not overheated yet. I know some speculate that the...

Re: XF100- converting NTSC to PAL in post?

I shot the whole thing in 1080/24p since that was much...

I work in Adobe Premiere, not FCP, so take this for what it is worth:

There are two frame rates you need to think about, the frame rate you're filming in and the frame rate you're playing the...

Re: Still having trouble using CS5 to meet broadcast requirements

Thanks, Bart. I usually DO encode with h.264 instead of Quicktime, but they specified a .MOV wrapper. Although I must say, I do like the results I'm getting with Quicktime/h.264, and quality set to...
