Re: Any software from Sony?

I think there is a free version of Vegas.

If you use FCPX or Premier even Avid will just import from the SDXC card.

Happy Thanksgiving.

FS5 Boring still life tests

Some basic testing I always do when I first get a new cam.

I started this session with an old Canon FD 50mm f1.4 lens from the 70’s, not sharpest lens wide open, but I always liked this lens. And...

Re: Sony PXW-FS5 - Initial User Impressions

I just got my FS5 from BandPro Tuesday, they may still have few in stock, call them, they ordered a lot of them.

I spent most of yesterday playing with it. I absolutely love it.

I will post...

Re: New Sony PXW-FS5

Canon makes a TA-100 that is only the front dovetail on the VCT14. It is much lighter and works very well.
You can get VCT-14 front wedges to go on any camera for $59.00.

I used to use the VCT14...

Re: Cameras like a7s used in ENG style?

Peter, do you mean a brick size battery? Like an AB or IDX V-mount or Gold-Mount.

If so I can do those as well, but bear in mind those batteries are 14.8v and I use the voltage regulated plates...

I use my A7s ENG style all the time with my cage, it is available here:

Re: Focus Does Not Match Markings On Lens

You could mark the back of a tape measure to match the markings on the lens and use that for the "traditional film school way" to focus.

Just a thought...

I would also make sure infinity is...

Re: A7s Auto override manual focus

The AF/MF (Auto focus/manual focus) button can be used to do this. It can be used while shooting video.

This is from the help guide:

Re: Doug Jensen's Sony PXW-FS7 Master Class

I agree with Doug on this one. I would use a cam like the EX1 or EX3 or even a ⅔" cam with ENG lens for this type of shoot.

The large DOF makes it easy to manually focus in the changing scene. I...

Re: FS100 Anton battery plate/dummy batter with FS700?

I think you will find that the voltage converter is in the plate not the dummy battery. In that case you only need the connector. I stock those.

I convert many AB and IDX (these use a D-tap for...

Re: Mounting the odyssey (7q+) for handheld DSLR

Here is how I do it on a A7s, this is on the cage I make, but it will work on any rig that has ¼-20 tapped holes.

Re: XQD Compatibility Question

The S & N Old cards do not work in the new G adapter.

This is what I have read several places, I have not tried myself as I only have the new cards.

Re: Westside A V 15mm cheese plate with many battery options added to kit.

Thanks for the kind words, glad it is still working for you. I still use my EX3 version of that kit as well.

I do offer the same wing and you can add the NF bracket as well, though I don't list...

Re: FS7 good replacement for EX3?

I use Photodiox, this is my second one they seem fine quite rugged and mine at least fit snug but not ridiculously tight.

I actually have plates that accept BPU batteries and fit on a cheese plate...

Re: FS7 good replacement for EX3?

I do have 2 of the 50mm 1.4's, I don't like the Bokeh in either FD or EF. I do use them sometimes if I need really fast lenses, but the Bokeh is so much nicer in my other lenses that I guess I am...

Re: FS7 good replacement for EX3?

I typically still use the EX3 if I have to shoot sports and cover a whole field or lots of different distances with long lens and wide quickly changing situations.

Or as a B-cam or C-cam with...

Re: FS7 good replacement for EX3?

I still have my EX3 and I use it a lot if I really need to move fast and nail focus quickly. It is still an excellent camera.

The FS7 is great though it has some early teething problems, none...

Great job Doug,

Your videos and field guides are a great compliment to the manuals and I would say a must have with new cameras like the FS7.

I have watched about half of the vids so far and I...

Re: PXW X180 V lock power

Most brick batteries output an average of 14.8v. Fully charged they output as high as 16.8v as they drain the voltage drops, most cameras stop working at 11.5v, that is when the low voltage warning...

Westside A V 15mm cheese plate with many battery options added to kit.

We keep adding to our FS7 kit, today we got our rear cheese plates back from the anodizer.

We can put AB or IDX battery plates or pretty much any battery plate like BPU and run cables to the FS7...
