Re: How far do you go to secure your audio?

I'd never interfere. However, like Roman, I have faked vows after the fact - one of my first weddings, long before I knew pocket recorders were a good idea.

I used wireless last year, and I've...

Re: Windows 10 free?

I have no idea about any actual benefits. Here is an article about the differences from Windows 7: Here?s What?s Different About Windows 10 for Windows 7 Users...

Re: Fire & Ice by Kevin J Railsback - UWOL 36

That was awesome!

If you're ever headed in my direction (Minnesota/North Dakota border area), let me know. I'd love to bug the hell out of you for a day or two. I'll bring the sandwiches.

Re: Camcorders only

I'd add the Samsung NX1 into that mix. 4K. Somebody just announced they were easily able to eliminate the recording time limit entirely in its firmware. You can charge it via USB (while recording,...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

No way to adjust the in-camera settings to reduce sharpness?

Oh, I do have one question: How to focus while shooting video? Will I be doing it manually all the time? Or is there a convenient...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

Thank you, guys.

Looks like you made my decision easy. I'll be picking up a pair of these in the coming months. Possibly 3.

/for now, that means I'll shoot the ceremony with two FZ1000s, a...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

Thanks, Steve, Roger.

I found a good video laying out its issues.

It looks like the low light is about the same as my Canon 70D. At receptions I already use my 5d Mark ii as my primary, and...

Re: Drones - How Difficult to Learn to Fly?

How hard it is kind of depends on what you want to do with it.

For simple shots like fly bys of locations, establishing shots, I've found it to be pretty easy over all.

More complex shots will,...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

We don't have a signing here. However, my main issue is that I want opposite side cameras for the vows. Then the aisle cam is a safety to those. The entire rest of the time, I pretty much only use...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

I'm hoping to find something cheaper since I want two of them. Largely, I like the idea of 4K for the up front side aisle cams where I can digitally zoom in for the vows later. I can get two of...

Re: Anyone using the FZ1000 for weddings?

Could anyone tell me how long this will record? Panasonic's website has this:

Continuous recordable time (motion pictures)
MP4Approx. 110 min

Actual recordable time (motion pictures)...

re: Need quick set-up lighting solution for one-person crew

A dimmable on camera light might be useful in certain spots as a sort of fill.

For filming people you can easily get by with one light and a clampable reflector.

Otherwise, yeah, having easy...

Re: Your Favorite 2015 Wedding Film

I can't wait to be able to watch all of these (and more, hopefully).

My favorite isn't perfect, but, I'm pleased with the quality (other than the first dance, which should have been better). I...

Re: What do you archive?

I'm a 3 camera Canon shooter.
I checked and my prep and first look, shot solo, was about 25 GB, then a Catholic ceremony was just under 80 GB more. That prep covered around 5 hours of the day...

Re: What do you archive?

For archiving I make a relatively lossless avi and save the DVD iso.

As for the all footage, my contract says the client has 14 days to tell me of a problem, but, space is cheap enough that...

Re: What is your best tip for managing the most stressful aspects of this business?

I've always had a good attitude for this sort of thing. I tend to not dwell on the problem, but figure out the solution... focus on what is next.

Much later, on the drive home or whatever, I can...

Bottom half of screen is black on my 5d Mark ii

Well, my 5d mark ii now shows, almost always, the bottom half of the screen black.

I did manage to get it clear twice during the day. After I turned off the camera or took a lens off, it went...

Re: What lenses are you using throughout the wedding?

Would love to shoot 4k. I'm still holding out for 4k with the same focusing as my 70D.

Re: What lenses are you using throughout the wedding?

I use both zooms and primes. The primes are great for the lower light reception. I'm not swapping them, though since I'm using 3 cameras. One prime for each. Earlier in the day I stick with one...

Re: What lenses are you using throughout the wedding?

Depends on the room and the camera.

For instance, some large ballrooms I've even put a 135mm f/2.8 on our full frame because the best open space to capture the head table was pretty far back.

Re: Any reason why I shouldn't buy a 7D2 for dedicated steadicam camera?

No, but if you have a free finger, its easy enough to keep it on the face you want. It uses a touch screen.

I use it and love it for the processional at weddings, even though, when the couple...

Re: Bluray | DVD cases

I'll let you know:) I haven't used both together yet. I've ordered them and my slide box is on back order.

I have fit the clear, thin, plastic jewel cases in the box.

The box's interior...

Re: Bluray | DVD cases

That's what the internets for, Vince :)

I had a bunch of DVDs run off that just have a nice, generic 'Our Wedding Video' on it, then my name in tiny print at the bottom.

Re: Bluray | DVD cases

I've been using that custom DVD case from Black River Imaging for about a year and love it.

Now I combine it with a nice box to put the DVD case and USB in.
