Re: A little help installing Magic Lantern?
Although there's warnings is big letters everywhere, the risk seems pretty low. I think they bricked a few back in the day when they were testing it out, but nothing much bad has happened since they...

Re: Magic Lantern, frame rate override
26 and 27 shouldn't be a real problem. On the 60D you start having trouble around 32 at 1080. To some extent it's just the speed of your card that's the thing apparently, as the buffer fills up...

Re: EOS 6D skipping frames
Sounds frustratingly bad. I wonder if reinstalling the firmware would touch that part of the system? Probably not, but I don't know.
Anyway, class 10 cards do seem to vary wildly in quality. ...

Re: Focus Peaking in Magic Lantern
You have to fidget with the different modes according to the lighting conditions for the best results. But no, it's not deadly accurate.
I hit focus much faster and more accurately than I used to...

Re: EOS 6D skipping frames
It's definitely some weird error. It's never happened to me.
It sounds like it's got some weird hiccup in the standards or something. Like it's recording at 24fps but the codec is still outputting...

Re: Question for those that use CineStyle profile
Adding to that; Cinestyle is interesting because it lifts the baseline black from zero to 16. This can cause minor banding if you push it too hard in post (even though you can push it harder than...

Thoughts on Kenko and other teleconverters
This may belong in some general lens forum or something, but I'm sure you guys have some.
So I don't feel like buying any more huge lenses (only really got one, but anyway). Can't be bothered...

Re: Which lens to replace kit lens?
Yeah, the IS free Tamron 17-50mm is quite cheap and quite a bit sharper in testing than the IS version (VC they call it). I guess it depends on how you shoot if that's big deal or not.
The...

Re: The Hobbit shooting in 48p on RED cameras
Definitely not the worst greenscreen job I have ever seen. Not even the worst greenscreen job in the series. Your dark, cloudy sky is bright behind him too, I note. Wouldn't be the least bit...

Re: Ikonskop B&W camera
Go proper hard core and get three of them and some sort of convergence box, filters etc and do a three colour process.
So Raw it can still kick you in the face.

Re: Canon 60D quality on vimeo?
Have you got any examples? (I have no friends so I'm not in any groups :(
It's probably true that the 7D attracts more particular people. It still has an odd mystique about it where people...

Re: Revenge of the plastic skin!
It must be the reflector that's doing it, I guess, but the first girl looks like she's lit from an on camera light. Ring light even. It's seemingly dead centre, so you get that funny effect where...

Re: t3i magic lateen install
It's a bit fiddly to use sometimes, but it has endless toys to play with. Practically speaking it's worth it for Focus Peaking (even though it's not deadly accurate), Zebras, False Colour and the...

Re: The Hobbit shooting in 48p on RED cameras
You folks are probably the cine-science types for this subject.
I've been chatting about this elsewhere. Is the difference really just the reduced motion blur? Does that give us the 'movie' look,...

Eggchan - Ghosts music video
I guess I should put this here as well. A zero budget video for a local electronica artist.
All shot with the Canon 60D. My first MV. It kinda shows, I think, that I'm more accustomed to...

Re: New! Blackmagic 2.5K Raw cinema camera!
The crop factor is a worry, but this fuss about XLR inputs on every camera really gets over done sometimes.
I personally have only seen one or two single system shoots in six years, from budgets...
