Re: Nikon D4 with new video features
Now that's how to shoot a camera demo! Gorgeous shots, wonderful backdrops, captivating interviews - one gets lost in the material and forgets the serious business of pixel peeping. That solo rock...

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features
Right, while the press release states "users can stream an uncompressed full HD signal directly out of the camera" I take it they 're using the term very liberally, is 10bit 4:2:2 too much to hope...

"Uncompressed" output via HDMI !!! - sure like to know the details.
Also control of audio input and monitoring, much reduced rolling shutter, 2.7 crop mode at 1080p, full time AF in all modes,...

External recorder test: 1.1 firmware @25p
Today I recorded ProRes 422HQ direct from the HDMI output of my Pal GH2 to an intensity pro card.
Various users have reported cadence issues with 24p output. My quick tests revealed no such...

Re: 5DtoRGB - wow! This really helps.
Sorry Guy, I'm in Pal land, so a simple 50i to 25p conversion takes place. I haven't had to deal with NTSC frame rates myself.
Thomas, yes I've heard something along these lines. It makes a big...

Re: XF300 Pattern issue with video
Oh Canon Team, you're such a spoil sport, taking all the fun out of spending countless hours pixel peeping test footage in poorly concocted scenes.
However will I while away my evenings now?

5DtoRGB - wow! This really helps.
Very much enjoying using the GH2 but alongside my XF300 (with 4:2:2 codec) one thing you really notice is the colour sampling.

Re: Phil Bloom's trip to France w/C300
It's phenomenal value for money. I recently used a client's unhacked GH2 with kit lens on a shoot alongside my 5DII with 70-200 IS II and was shocked to see the Canon comprehensively outgunned...

Re: Anyone planning to use EF-S Lenses?
Thanks Alister,
Curiously the 24-70 is the one L series lens I still own (left over from my days with the 5DII), but it's a case in point. I was considering selling it to fund a 17-55 IS.

Anyone planning to use EF-S Lenses?
If one is not already heavily invested in L glass, is there any reason not to take advantage of some of the higher end EF-S lenses with the C300, vis-a-vis their more prestigious counterparts.
I'm...

GH2 firmware 1.1 @25p hmdi > external recorder?
Hi all,
Played with a new GH2 with the 1.1 firmware this weekend. Love lots of things about the camera but the high compression lets it down a bit.
When I hook up a Small HD monitor output...

Re: How many lines of resolution for GH2?
Interesting thread. Just picked up a GH2 with Panny 25 1.4 and Oly 45 1.8
While I haven't performed a scientific test, my XF300 very clearly resolves more detail (the XF300 measures in the...

Re: Slightly Overexposed XF300 footage?
Hi Larry,
I love the XF but I also grade practically everything I shoot. I must admit, if I'm not grading footage at all, then I do prefer the look of the DSLRs. I just shot some interviews with...
