Re: C300 Why so long to give it a street price?

nivo-schweitzer.nl (http://www.nivo-schweitzer.nl/filter)

At this moment the aforementioned Holland site sells the C300 for Euro 13000. A Euro 1000 increase, since Menno Mennes post and Euro 1250...

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features

Some more info regarding the video out, at least according to an internet Q&A:

To activate 1080p HDMI at 8bit 4-2-2 you have to remove both cards from the camera. No simultaneous recording.
Nikon...

Re: JVC 4K Camcorder Announced

Now imagine this:

Since it has 4K out, you can rent the uncompressed Sony recorder for F65 and if you manage to connect it to the 4 HDMIs, you will get amazing uncompressed 4k video, albeit with...

Re: JVC 4K Camcorder Announced

I think most people missed its most groundbreaking feature. It can output a live 4K stream!!!
I think not even Red can do that. There is a lot of potential in this camera and probably much more in...

Re: Jan. 17th Canon announcement

We must not forget that on average gear costs 5-15% less in US than in Europe.
Even if the actual price is around $15K, is a far cry than the absurd $20K they announced in November. Usually street...

Re: Canon introduces PowerShot G1 X, new VIXIA camcorders, Elph 520 HS and 110 HS

The F5.9, especially in the tele end where DOF is more useful, almost negates the benefits of a larger sensor. I'd rather see a slightly smaller zoom range, let's say up to 90, and an F-stop of 4.5...

Re: Canon introduces PowerShot G1 X, new VIXIA camcorders, Elph 520 HS and 110 HS

Since the bigger tube was 4/3inch, 1,5inch refers to a tube size that never existed. Amazing!!!

BEWARE THE NUMBERS DO NOT SUM UP

There must be a mistake. From school calculus we know that the hypotenuse of a right triangle can be derived from the sum of the squares of its sides.

Re: Anyone planning to use EF-S Lenses?

I also find the IS of the 17-55 exceptional. I am a very bad hadnhelder, but with this lens I have shot hand held for hours with excellent results.

The problem is that Canon's APS size sensor (as...

Re: Anyone planning to use EF-S Lenses?

Having filmed with the 17-55 2.8 and a 7D body under Iguazu falls, I can attest that lens is completely weather proof.
A word of caution to anybody who is planning to buy EF-S lenses for C300....

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features

Jon,

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features

Well it has become a tradition, each manufacturer to introduce a fine product with a major inexplicable...

Re: A letter to Canon

I agree that a lens with a 4X zoom range and with such wide angle capability has to weight as much. I just think they should have choosen a more lightweight design to suit better their new camera.

Chris Hurd:
1. It is just the first of what will be a series of cameras bearing the Cinema EOS logo.
2. The pricing will work itself out. Canon prices always start too high, and always come down...

A letter to Canon

Tim,
You believe the DSP is to blame for not having 10bit from the HDSDI?

Re: Reasons to go for C300 over RED Scarlet X?

It might be inefficient resolution wise, but in every other respect is optimum. From what I've read so far it's not a bad decision. Which brings back the haunted question. Why Canon took so much pain...

Re: Reasons to go for C300 over RED Scarlet X?

Without being an expert, I think that the beyer filter addressed the technology inadequeacies of a bygone area. The most modern sensors (F65, C300) are not beyer and I don't think this trend is going...

Re: Reasons to go for C300 over RED Scarlet X?

I think Scarlet can control the autofocus lenses, just as C300 can, but doesn't have autofocus sensor to focus by itself.

Re: C300 Discussion

A question for those who have seen the camera in person. From the pics it seems that all the playback functions rest on the monitor/XLR attachment. Can you control the playback functions without it?

Re: C300 and still lenses compatibility

It's kind of ironic, but since Nikon's DX format is slightly larger than Canon's EF-S format, is possible that the DX line of NIkon lenses, is more compatible with the new sensor.

C300 and still lenses compatibility

Since the sensor is closer in size to APS-H format than APS, does anybody know, if the EF-S lenses would vignette or not.? That's pretty important.

A second important question. Does the image...
