Re: Rock band live performance

The key to your board feed is to know exactly what is there, assume nothing. Small club band mixes are very unpredictable. Depending on venue size, house PA, bands own amps, mixers preference and...

Re: How did they do it?

There is a number of ways that can be done. I think an operated boom is the least likely. A few fixed mics with someone riding the gain is more likely. Background music is not always added in post...

Re: Gear for live streaming?

As mentioned there are numerous ways of doing this. I have two ways of thinking about building a system. The easy one is building a system to meet YOUR needs. That means something that works with...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

Bruce, "anywhere I can put a camera" was a poor choice of words. I am saying I can put a mic anywhere I can use one of those alternative mounts. It works.

Seth, In those days it was not "my...

Re: Recomended Mic Placement for Orchestra Recording

First, Mic Placement: Sometimes when a venue or director get crusty about stands and mic placement you have to go outside of the mic stand box. I have the brass 1/4 20 thread adapters for all of my...

Re: Solution for 2x G2 Sennheiser RX on top of camera?

Thanks Rick. So, while I'm thinking about it....If we used a mic pick up pattern analogy what direction is the signal leaving the TX antenna? I was taught its omni directional, its a RF signal. ...

Re: Solution for 2x G2 Sennheiser RX on top of camera?

That video sounds like Guy Cochran from the DVeStore? In the video he says a Sennheiser Rep told him belt pack transmiters work best mounted upside down because the antenna is pointed at the Earth....

Re: External audio recorder

Hi Kathy,

I can not answer your questions entirely. The scope of your answer is not simple and beyond a short forum post. What you are asking is really about "How do I learn proper gain staging...

Re: How do I get around terrible theatre/theater lighting?

Bruce,

Yes my reply was a little salty. I won't apologise for it but I will explain. I read your own strongly worded reply to the OP as saying "DON"T", you also said you "draw lines with...

Re: How do I get around terrible theatre/theater lighting?

I am laughing because I figured a post like that was coming from Paul. He is correct and I agree with him. He always knows what he is talking about. Over the years I have placed several posts in...

Re: How do I get around terrible theatre/theater lighting?

Wow "noticed you will deliver on dvd. DON'T" I'm not sure if this is an artists advice or coming from someone who does not understand consumer usage and good business practices but I can tell you...

Re: How do I get around terrible theatre/theater lighting?

Another possible fix for part of this set IF they will work with you. Stage actors have marks to hit. This stage is clearly marked. Look at photo 5. About a two or three foot difference in...

Re: How do I get around terrible theatre/theater lighting?

That is LED lighting. Even worse it might be a mix of old tungsten Lecos above but the color issue is coming from the LED pars lining the front of the stage. This is more about the blue LED lights...

Re: 18 October - New Camera from Sony.

No need to sell the house. The camera they did announce has its place but its not for most of us on this board. I work with that series (and others) on my AV shows. We use studio configurations...

Re: Monitoring headphones

I have Sennheiser 280s and a a pair of Shure buds (not sure of model #) I paid almost $200.00 probably 10 years ago.

I consider the Shure buds very "handy" they have a place. Even with expensive...

Re: 18 October - New Camera from Sony.

So......back to the topic....

Was this new camera announcement a lost leader? A total bust??? It is past 6:00PM in NY. I searched and can't find anything but the rumors leading up to today.

Re: How to Do This Transition

Something I noticed was an excellent use of color when transitioning shots. Someone was paying a lot of attention to color in flow and context.

Mine did that once too. On what was supposed to be a 6 minute clip it recorded 6 clips that were all 1 minute and one second long. They were not frame accurate, there was just enough of a...

Re: Live Streaming and Recording at the Same Time

+1 on everything Seth said. Especially about going with a hard wire. For this gig wireless falls into the "just because you can...does not mean you should category". Do no risk this show on wifi....

What I can tell you is I have rigged a thousand Leco stage...
