Re: Canon 6D Announced - Full Frame

If ya want FF and a Canon for video...no brainer. It's price point does have a lot more to do with the lack of functionality on the stills end of things plus the SD card format. As I do a lot of...

Re: Best wide angle lens for video for Canon 7D

Had the Tokina 11-16 while I owned a 7D and it was great. Will probably get one again if I go the Blackmagic route. If not...the new Zeiss 15mm f2.8 should be a killer. Also Rokinon just released a...

Re: greenscreen setup problem

RED FLAG!!!

Cloth WILL NOT work as a dance surface! Sorry but even people walking on a cloth floor will cause it to wrinkle and become problematic for keying.

Dancing will most certainly pull...

Re: Suggestion for recording young male vocals (singing)

In that price range, I have used for VO and singing the Shure SM27, AT 4040, and Blue Bluebird with really good results.
The 4040 being my fav of that bunch.

Re: 5D3 not smooth

+1

I've accidentally left IS on a couple of times on tripod (switching from photo to video with a bunch of lenses there's a lot to keep track of!) and that's the kind of skip I see. It doesn't...

Re: Permanent lighting for green room: Kino Flos or...?

That's probably the best shot of my space.
5 lights is probably not going to be enough. I actually use seven if you go back and count. It takes four to light the wall and floor. The other three are...

Re: Permanent lighting for green room: Kino Flos or...?

I have almost the same size studio, 12' wide, 9' tall 9' deep with a cyc curve.
My grid holds 5 lights. 4 are kino-bulbed 220 watt fixtures I built and the 5th is an LED hair light.
I use two...

Re: How do the studios do their DVD's

I worked for a large company (converting and archiving home movies) that spit out thousands of burned DVD's a day and had a very similar question to the OP's for the engineers responsible for...

Re: GH2: Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden

very nice! I have thousands of stills from there but haven't shot much video. I did shoot some in the butterfly exhibit with my 5D mk3 just to see if the aliasing from the screens would be a problem....

Re: Lens and Colours

I have both the 16-35 and 24-70. Virtually no difference in quality. On the 5D mk3 the 16-35 vignettes a bit on the wide end but color-wisw they are the same.

Re: Broadcast quality lavalier?

When I'm doing interviews, I use a G3 wireless systems on the subjects but have re-miked with a Sanken COS-11 and a Voice Technologies VT500 which really transform the sound of the G3 system.

I...

Re: Anyone refuse to switch to Premire Pro CS 6.0 because of interface?

Slightly off topic as I didn't use CS5 and 5.5 very long (FCP convert!)
I never got the hang of those two and it really worried me as I needed to move from FCP7 which I was very comfy in.
CS6 works...

Re: New 5D Mk3 User

Your current "crop" (bad pun) of cameras can't even come close to the high ISO usability of the 5D mk3.
The noise has a very different look that kinda mimics film. Fine grain not blotchy garbage....

Re: Canon Cinema Lenses now available!

I think these were meant to live in the realm of rentals.

Seems all Canon glass is getting expensive. Even the mkII versions of the 500mm f4, 600mm f4 are over $10k! I will say that my mkII 70-200...

Re: Anyone seen or used the "Aimcrane" aiming system?

Thanks David!
That would be more than the price of the whole Kessler rig! But if it's a primary tool that's not bad. So are you gonna pull the trigger on one? ;)

Re: Anyone seen or used the "Aimcrane" aiming system?

When I first got my Kessler rig, I used it on gigs weekly. I got pretty good but it's a skill that has to be maintained.
This certainly would ease the work on more complex moves. Something tells me...

Re: What's the Maximum heat 5d mark ii or iii ?

It really is a matter of how long the camera is running and exposed. Did a full day shoot last year with a MK2 in 115 deg and between takes we shut it down and kept it covered. takes were only 5 min...

The fact that you're asking means you don't have the experience to accomplish what you want.
As has been discussed in many threads here, the RC Helis capable of carrying a payload of any kind...

Re: Canon USA Announces EOS M Mirrorless APS-C Camera

I think we all missed it! :) or it wasn't in the documents we read!
I'm still curious why there are 2 HDMI ports.
Guesses?

Been flying RC planes and helis for a very long time. And gotta say this is one of the best event videos I've ever seen. Both shooting and editing are superb. Nice to see the slow motion footage...

Re: 5D mark iii & pix 240

mkIII output isn't clean. you will have overlays on your video. That's a mkIII issue and the deal killer for external recording with any device. Get a T4i.
