DV-info members average age?

Curious...what's the average age on here. I know there are some older folks and some young'ins (Alex K.)...but what is the average age?

I'll start- 25, but 15 at heart. ;)

Jeff Farris July 11th, 2003 07:50 AM

When you're old enough that you have to contemplate the question for a moment, it's a pretty sure bet that you've moved beyond the centerline.

45, if my math is correct.

Rob Lohman July 11th, 2003 08:12 AM

25 and also a kid 4-ever :)

K. Forman July 11th, 2003 08:42 AM

Older than Glen and Rob, but a little younger than Jeff. I never grew up, just old :)

Aaron Rosen July 11th, 2003 09:01 AM

Ill add: 23.

Never Stop Learning

Rick Foxx July 11th, 2003 09:11 AM

34 here. Old enough to have seen a lot, but young enough to have not seen it all...

Brian Wood July 11th, 2003 09:13 AM

Another youngin (just a tad less vocal :) i'm 17

Cosmin Rotaru July 11th, 2003 09:20 AM

Imran Zaidi July 11th, 2003 09:21 AM

William Brunk July 11th, 2003 09:48 AM

I'm afraid I have Jeff beat....I'm 56

Jeff Farris July 11th, 2003 09:58 AM

Thanks, William. For a few minutes there, I was starting to feel very lonely.

I've got underwear older than most of these guys. (j/k)

Andrew Petrie July 11th, 2003 10:15 AM

According to Mr. Ebert, if I was gonna make it in Hollywood, I woud have had to have made a few movies by now. :D

Rik Sanchez July 11th, 2003 10:58 AM

38

but like my friend told me, you don't reach your prime until your 40's

Elizabeth Williamson July 11th, 2003 11:46 AM

I'm a young'n at the ripe young age of 19.

Robert Knecht Schmidt July 11th, 2003 12:00 PM

I think membership here really runs the gamut--we have plenty of teenagers and folks in their 50s and early 60s--but the numbers fall off sharply at 70s and 80s.

Ed Smith July 11th, 2003 12:29 PM

I'm 19. 20 in a month !!!

17 years when I brought my XL1
18 when joined this wonderful community

All the best,

Ed

*In my best smooth voice*, "Heyyy there..." ;)

Yeah it really is a pretty diverse group. On the Mazda Protege forums the age bracket seems to be locked in between 18-28. Then again how wide of an age group do you expect to be online talking about import cars. :)

Rob Lohman July 11th, 2003 01:30 PM

OT

Do they import Peugeot as well?

Glen Elliott July 11th, 2003 06:10 PM

The United States?....nope. I wish- love that hatchback Peugeot runs in the World Rally! My dream car is the new 04 Subaru Impreza STi!

Ken Tanaka July 11th, 2003 07:18 PM

49

(Will we be updating this thread next year?)

Lorinda Norton July 11th, 2003 07:23 PM

I'm only doing this so the "average" in this poll doesn't swing too far toward the cradle. I am *sigh* 43, with a birthday next month.

Kinda late to get started in video production, but luckily I have two younger, and smarter, guys with me. Wouldn't last a day in this venture without 'em; having an absolute blast with 'em.

Clayton Farr July 11th, 2003 07:57 PM

Just recently celebrated my 30th, but the gray hairs started around 23... I'm pretty certain they have something to do with my then girlfriend / now wife. ;)

Don Bloom July 11th, 2003 08:29 PM

56 almost 57, 3 kids + spouses, 2 grandkids, 2 grandbirds, 1 grandsnake, 1 dog, 1 wife. The kids and wife have always been the same (34 years for the wife-26 to 32 years for the kids-5 years for the dog-snake is UNK-birds ??? grandkids almost 5 and brand new, like 3 or 4 days :)
I can tell you which child (or wife) caused which gray hair and why. I'm thankful I have gray hair and not no hair. The cameras are getting much heavier as I get older, perhaps it's time to retire. NAAAAAA! What would I do on the weekends?
Got to take my geritol and vitamins now, got a wedding tomorrow. ;-0
Don

Gints Klimanis July 11th, 2003 08:33 PM

I'm 34.

Alex Knappenberger July 11th, 2003 08:42 PM

Yay, do I get a prize for being the youngest? :D

14 (about to be 15 here at the end of this month).

Frank Granovski July 11th, 2003 09:06 PM

I'm 49 & 1/2. I'll hit the big 50 on March 4th. I don't feel my age except for those darn 80 year old knees and my poor head---infested with lots of white stuff. Nevertheless, I kick and punch each and every day as part of my work-out to feel a little younger...and knuckle push-ups to boot. :)

Alexander McLeod July 11th, 2003 09:11 PM

Turned 69 on June 20. 2003. :-)

Sandy

K. Forman July 12th, 2003 04:37 AM

No Alex... Now go to your room! :)

John Locke July 12th, 2003 04:52 AM

Alexander,

So, is "Sandy" your nickname? Or does that mean you spent your 69th birthday on the beach?

And Keith, I think you're being too lenient. Make him stand in the corner.

K. Forman July 12th, 2003 06:37 AM

John- I noticed you skated around the original question... There's another corner with your name :)

Haasim Mahanaim July 12th, 2003 07:11 AM

20 (turning 21 in November)

Glen Elliott July 12th, 2003 09:10 AM

Man, the more that reply the more the demographic swawy towards upper 30's and above. Maybe us mid 20's and below are in the minority here!

Jeff Donald July 12th, 2003 10:05 AM

Just to keep that trend moving in the right direction . . . I'm 46 and I've been doing video and photography since 1979. Next month will make it 24 years in the business, more than half my life. Don, watch those No Hair remarks. I resemble those remarks, went grey at 17 and shaved off what was left 2 years ago.

Alexander McLeod July 12th, 2003 11:19 AM

Both. Sandy is a traditional Scottish nickname for Alexander plus I live in a man made harbor in Huntington Beach. I picked up the name Sandman tons of years ago when I was a beach rat and surfed a lot (originally on a wooden board, when men were men, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum).

Just point me where you want me to go and remind me when to come back. :-) Can I take my GL2?

K. Forman July 12th, 2003 11:29 AM

You are ok Sandy, it was Alex that was being punished :)

Aaron Rosen July 12th, 2003 11:45 AM

Jeff -

So your saying you started the year some of us were born? Good for you.

I learned something very important in the 4 yeras I worked as an Ambulance attendant:

The state of your hair is not so important... as long as you are around to comment on it. =)

Yes, 23 and have grey hair from some of the calls... FUN STUFF!

Jeff Donald July 12th, 2003 11:53 AM

I don't count the years I was in college (75-79), just the years getting paid for doing this stuff. Poor Alex K., I was already doing this for 10 years before he was born. But he'll be doing it long after I'm gone.

Joe Carney July 12th, 2003 01:43 PM

Jeff, similar age to you, but still have my hair (brown, sorta), and Just For Men works wonders. (wifes idea, but I like it).
Had to shave the beard though. Used to be red, now Santa Clause white with red streaks.

Nigel Moore July 12th, 2003 03:31 PM

I joined this wonderful forum at the age of 38 on 9 May, two days before my birthday.

Which, for the mathematically challenged in the audience, makes me 39.

Alexander McLeod July 12th, 2003 08:48 PM
