Sean Hansen September 13th, 2005 07:31 AM

I'm 35, still play video games, running around filming the craziest of things, and enjoying every ounce I can squeeze out of life.

I am 55 and counting paychecks to retirement (29) and then I can spend more time than money on video, film and two planned documentaries.

Mark Utley September 27th, 2005 01:19 AM

18 years old, just out of high school, doing freelance shoots 3-5 nights per week and loving it.

Frank Daghigh October 3rd, 2005 12:24 PM

It looks like, I am the only one who is in his 40's in this Forum. I am 44....where did time go??

Frank

Steve Revis October 4th, 2005 10:46 AM

You're not alone Frank. I'm 47, I toddled throught the 1950's , ran through the 60's, the 70's ...........remain a blurr, 80's ? Don't want to talk about that period. 90's , ran amuck. Trying to finally get my act togather since the year 2000.Thanks goodness for image stabilizing.......

Andy Peterson October 6th, 2005 05:12 PM

I am 20 years of age.
Been doing the whole video thing since my dad brought home a purple iMac years ago and I made a movie with the attached camera about Bagel Bites!
Changed my life forever.

23, doing this as a hobby with friends. Hopefully make some money at what i do.

Dennis Rester November 3rd, 2005 02:32 PM

I'm 45 and brand new to video. About to invest truckloads of money into something I know absoutly nothing about so my son and I will have something in common besides DNA.

Definate proof that getting older doesn't make you smarter.

See Ya
Dennis

Rob Lindsay November 3rd, 2005 03:27 PM

I'm 54. i shoot video, HD, film, and stills. Whew! Too many formats, too little time.

Dennis Whitney November 3rd, 2005 03:44 PM

Im 41. I have no money anymore. I do sound. I became interested in video during the process of tracking sound for an independent film company. I did film editing on 8mm BELL RTR as a youth. Razor Blades and Glue for my dad who did alot of home movies of vacations and my sister and I during the holidays. I have an addiction to creating musical oddities and figured I'd try video as an extension. My camcorder is a Canon ZR200 I've had for 3 months and I've filled up 9, 60 minute DV tapes of just stuff.

Peace,
Dennis

Greg LeBlanc November 4th, 2005 06:02 PM

My first post

Howdy everyone. I'm fairly new to the prosumer side of videography and just made a huge investment in equipment. As far as age... I'm 44 going on 25 but I don't look a day over 65. Looking forward to reading and responding to a lot of the posts out here in DV land. By the way, I'm way down here in Houston, TX

Adrian Vallarino November 5th, 2005 04:40 AM

37

Im 37 and second generation in TV production. Im a true son of TV, my mother was a news anchor and my dad a news cameraman, they met at a TV station, married, then I came to the world. I was raised playing with film rolls and started working at 12 as a camera assist to my father......so I guess I have 37 years and 25 working on TV.

Jeff Phang November 5th, 2005 06:47 PM

I'm 16, and a junior in high school. I'm looking at Tisch at NYU for college.

Miguel Lombana November 6th, 2005 04:02 PM

41 but look 25 and act 16!

Ben Winter November 7th, 2005 03:54 PM

17. 18 in March--I get tired of high school sometimes. Looking at an electrical engineering degree and then a 2 year grad film program at NYU, USC or Boston...maybe even Miami.

Christian Jones November 8th, 2005 03:00 PM

This is my first post here so I figured I would start with something I know, my age. I am 26. I Edit families home movies into much shorter, more organized and more interesting DVDs. I found this site researching copyright laws and was not too happy with what I found.

Stephen Claus November 10th, 2005 05:14 PM

I just turned 38 but my 21 year old wife and 4 month old daughter keep me young.

Simon Cooper November 18th, 2005 04:55 PM

Recently turned 39 and just got engaged!

Aside from making short films I'm lecturing part-time to university students studying Computer and Video Games here in Southampton, UK.

@ Christian: just the other week I touched a little on copyright during a lecture to my students. I felt a little sorry to have to introduce them to a world moulded by lawyers. The whole issue of copyright can be a real eye-opener.

Derek Grogan November 22nd, 2005 11:54 AM

Ive got my bus pass so im old. But I guess im not the oldest Im 63.

You know the saying "If i had known I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself" I dunno if that applies to me or not..

Anybody else find it hard to remember how to work some software packages?
Premier Pro for example.

Still its good to see all ages interested. The young of today are the directors of tomorrow

[QUOTE=Still its good to see all ages interested. The young of today are the directors of tomorrow[/QUOTE]

While the old, like me, have appointments lined up with tomorrow's funeral directors. You're doing fine Derek. I can't remember where i buried the tutorial cds for Premier Pro.

Never mind; you sing The Banks of Loch Lomond and I'll sing The Rose of Mooncoin

Chad Huntley November 22nd, 2005 02:02 PM

I'm only 19, and am still finding it very difficult to get started with anything in this industry! Hopefully in a couple of years you'll hear different from me.

Mark Holmes November 27th, 2005 05:27 PM

37...and just began visiting this site again after a year or so off it. It seems to have grown considerably. And, yes, middle aged, but just beginning a new career in video with a few shorts and one feature under my belt.

Glenn Thomas November 30th, 2005 05:40 AM

33 here... One of the Star Wars generation who grew up watching those films as a kid.

Chris Rees December 5th, 2005 12:58 PM

my age

hi everyone. i have the mental age of an embryo but unfortunately the years have switched to fast forward, and before i new it 1967 was a long time ago. but having the mental age of a chunk of DNA i can't count so my age must be 21. i think?

Karl J Martin December 5th, 2005 01:46 PM

Hmm...

I'm Model Year 1967, too.

Makes us...38, I think.

Naw, that can't be right.

Rick Steele December 5th, 2005 03:41 PM

48 here. It’s not so bad really. It seems I’m now allowed to have unscheduled bouts of flatulence in public, wear clothing from the seventies, say really stupid things and of course embarrass my children with all the above.

Rick (turning into his father) Steele

Joshua Jezioro December 5th, 2005 03:56 PM

16, will be 17 in February.

Ashley Hosking December 10th, 2005 09:16 PM

I am actully 17 but my birthday is this month so I'm calling my self 18 :P

Josef Heks December 10th, 2005 09:33 PM

Ive been into film since as early as I can remember, but I only started doing it about a year ago. Im 18 now, but I sorta wish I started earlier - Spielberg made his first (home) feature at 16, and Rodriguez had made about 30 short films by my age...so I think I really need to get started!

Phil Kay December 16th, 2005 05:13 AM

I'm 36 and Manx (born and bred on the Isle of Man)
