Nexto DI to Launch Portable Wi-Fi Enabled Video Backup Drive

New Video Storage-Air Makes Debut at the 2013 NAB Show

08 March 2013 — Seoul, Korea — Nexto DI, the leading provider of high-speed handheld backup drives for the video, film and broadcasting market, is proud to announce the launch of the new Video Storage-Air, model NVS2825. The new model, NVS2825, is a portable Wi-Fi enabled video back up device that allows users to back up footage from SxS, P2, CF, SD/SDHC and SDXC memory cards onto the drive, then view and pre-edit clips from their iPad, iPhone and Android. Other innovative features include PCM audio play, FireWire 800 and USB 3.0 interfaces, exFAT/UDF/FAT32 support, internal motion/free-fall sensor, and ability to back up to internal and external drives simultaneously. The NVS2825, which will make its debut at the upcoming 2013 National Association of Broadcasters Show, is the latest addition to Nexto DI’s line of incredibly fast and reliable backup drives designed for the ultimate on-the-go video professional.

The NVS2825 features dedicated SxS and P2 card slots, but backs up CF and SD/SDXC/SDHC via adapters, which are included with purchase. Simply insert the memory card into the drive and the NVS2825 will automatically detect the type and be ready to copy. The new drive generates HTML index files so once bit by bit verification is complete, users may opt to preview the footage on the drive’s built-in 2.4” color LCD screen and play PCM audio through an audio jack located at the bottom of the device, or view and pre-edit video clips from their iPhone, iPad, or Android device via Wi-Fi. A special App will be available for download that supports real-time video playback on iOS devices, mark in/out, OK/NG cut selection, attaching notes, binding of cuts into a video, and PCM audio play. Android users may gain Wi-Fi access via their web browser.

“With the NVS2825, our goal was to design a high performance universal storage drive that allows users to do so much more than just back up and preview footage,” says Larry Seong, the president of Nexto DI. “By enabling shooters to playback video and audio, and make notes and some preliminary editing decisions right there in the field, it speeds up the overall editing process, making them much more efficient.”

The NVS2825 supports multiple file formats. It can back up UDF formatted SxS cards, such as those used with the ARRI Alexa and Sony PMW-500 cameras, and all exFAT formatted SxS cards, including those used with Sony F5 and F55 cameras. Support for the exFAT file format allows users to back up memory cards in excess of 4 GB.

The NVS2825 can also be used as a hard drive by connecting to a computer’s USB3.0 or FireWire 800 slot. When acting as a USB3.0 Host device, the NVS2825 can export its contents to a USB hard drive without using a computer to generate a secondary copy, allowing for quick and easy submission to an editing house or station if needed. Users can also back up their memory card to both the internal hard drive of the NVS2825 and to an external hard drive simultaneously.

Following in NEXTO DI tradition, this high performance drive also features extremely fast back up speeds: 90 MB/s for SxS and 80 MB/s for CF. Users can back up 30 GB in as little as seven minutes. Its bit by bit verification ensures 100% backup success, and it also notifies you if the memory card is corrupt or if the hard drive is faulty. Safety features include a motion/free fall sensor that automatically locks the head so no data is lost, rugged housing to protect the unit from external shock and internal shock absorbers.

The NVS2825 is available in either 750 GB internal 2.5” SATA hard drive that is forward compatible to 2TB or a 512 GB solid state drive. It comes with a rechargeable lithium battery. Retail price is $2,500 for the 750 GB HDD and $3,000 for the SSD. For more information, please visit www.nextodi.com.
